What I want to know is how much is real money? Another words, were contracts signed or was it just in the Budget document or work program. Most Agencies spend about 60% of what is in their work program or CIP each year, the rest either goes back to General Fund or rolls to future years. Are these actual active contracts?

The answer is very little. Admittedly, when you are dealing with the government, very little can mean a lot.

Some of the canceled contracts were already canceled. Others were optional and no one intended on exercising the option. As you note, many had variable prcing that was spread over years and DOGE just assumes it would have been the highest price for the most years.

Beyond that, what constitutes "fraud, waste, and abuse" is not clear at all. Often the contracts were canceled or positions cut just becuase Trump/DOGE did not like the policy for which the money was being spent.

If they have saved us some money, good for them. But this is a PR operation first, and an effort to install loyalists in place of career civil servants second. Actually, the other way around.

DOGE has been operational for all of a month. They're off to a good start but nobody promised the would find all or even most of the waste fraud and abuse in a few weeks. Given time, I'm not going to be at all shocked if the $$ saved reach $trillions.

Then they better find a lot more than $20 million here and there. A trillion is a HUGE number…like $20 million X 50,000

Yes, it's a huge number, but DOGE has barely even scratched the surface so far. They have yet to fully go after the enormous waste , fraud, and abuse in things like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare, the Department of Education (which will hopefully get abolished altogether), the Defense Department, the Justice Department, and on and on and on. Give them time.
What?

So, what happens if the waste is not what you think? They have to keep digging because there has to be waste? Or, maybe it is Congresses fault because they pass spending and the Agencies just do their jobs.

But, we will go there HAS to be enormous waste, fraud and abuse. So, keep looking. Is he DOGE cost waste if they don't turn up enough?

Bit confused. Was this DOGE related? If not, the "bad" system caught her and put her in prison? If so, how is that under this subject? DOGE had nothing to do with it? If they did, I applaud. But, it seems they are taking credit for others work

Im willing to bet there's several others doing things like this that are completely unknown.

I don't believe it is doge found. I don't believe they are taking credit.
This is just an example of fraud that goes through an ngo. It does happen, and needs rooting out. Latest findings will take time to bring charges and adjudicate. It's harder to prosecute people who are actually trying to hide their fraud. - unlike a couple of weird judges practically flaunting their deeds.

I have no idea. Neither does anyone else, as nothing has been done but press releases.

They have talked about NGOs, but have any of them broken the law? Is the law bad? I think so, but it is the same with taxes. If the law allows it how do you yell about people doing it? So far all I have seen is that DOGE may have broken the Privacy Act.

I do know they cancelled USAid, which I am good with Trump doing. He is the President, that is his call.

I do know they have said a lot and had a lot of theatrics, but the budget they submitted is more than Biden's! Trillion dollar DoD budget? He showed them...

We signed on for the 2016 Trump (low interest rates, high Stock Market and sound policy) and we got 2022 Putin. That is a problem, but you can't say that.

So, I have no idea what DOGE has really found or not.

Institute of Peace saga went deeper.

Just when you thought it couldn't get more surrealthe cover-up began.

DOGE had barely walked through the doors before the agency started deleting records.

"Just a few hours we got into their headquarters we found their chief accountant had actually deleted over a terabyte of accounting records from several years."

The obvious question came up: why?

"You would have to ask the question, well why would somebody do that? The DOGE team was fortunately able to recover that data with the help of a few great employees at the Institute of Peace."

Once they had the files back, the full picture emerged.

"They received $55 million a year from Congress and on the money that went unspent, instead of returning that to Congress, they would sweep it into a private bank account which has no congressional oversight and that's what they would use to fund events at their headquarters and the private jets."

For the DOGE team, this wasn't just an example of government wasteit was something far worse.

"I think it's a great example because most Americans don't know what's going on at a lot of these smaller agencies and this isI think this is the most extreme case of some of the wasteful spending we are finding."

Then came something so ridiculous it sounded like satire.

The Small Business Administration had sent out over $300 million in loans… to people who were already dead.

And that's not even the wildest part.

A DOGE staffer detailed:

"Is the Small Business Administration giving loans to dead people, people over the age of 120? The answer was yes and it was around $330 million in total."

Musk followed up with the part that shocked everyone at the table.

"And also people with birthdays in the future."

"Like, the birthdate I think in one case was likewe're talking about your great grandchildren. With the birthdate, like, of 2165."

"More than a century from now was the birth date."

"Because your birthday is in the future, the far future. Not like next year. This is either fraudulent or we have your birthday wrong."

Billions in taxpayer moneyand no one bothered to check the dates.
