I don't instinctively hate tarriffs. Many countries have improved their economies by implementing them. I am not in favor of the haphazard way that they have been implemented, raised, lowered, and paused. I am absolutely not in favor implementing them while the existing progressive tax regime still exists.

That having been said, the two biggest problems are an establishment GOP in congress that refuses to make permanent any of the policies that are being implemented by EO and a federal judiciary that is trying to preserve the leftist status quo by legislating from the bench.

Yep. Trump's rolling forward to make positive change for everyone. All they can do is beech and moan. They don't like him at all and thereby they don't like his approach. Even tho early signs show it appears to be working as intended. They favor a slow roll because the news tells them they should be concerned. Their preferred slow roll approach is a laughable concept. Never would happen.

Don't know what the end result will be but I like the general plan and approach, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

A lot of people are simply getting worked up by the media whose desperately trying to make it look like his tariffs, trade deals and peace talks are bad news.

Nah, not relentless criticism. Just criticism of two of his stupid policies: 1) blanket tariffs and 2) alienating Canadians.

That's it. But I can see to a sycophant that ANY criticism makes one a Trump hater.

Is there ANYTHING you don't agree with Trump on? Like one single thing? Or are you too hyper partisan to even identify one thing?

In the real world, the devil is in the details. Let's see how good this China deal was when we see the fine print. It could end up like the British deal, which wasn't all that great for Americans, unless they like paying higher prices for British goods.

1). It's not blanket tariffs - as in tariffs, and nothing but tariffs, end of story.
Nope, it's tariffs sure, but it's combined with resetting trade which needs to happen, re-envisioning middle America and industry, modifying supply routes through friendlier countries, factoring in national and world security into our trade policies.

You know this. But you beech and moan.

2) Alienating Canadians. Just such a small blip to worry about, especially where it causes so much of your drama.
Many agree with Trump that they're barely a country anymore. So maybe they need adult talk. They (and you) treat trade with America as entitlements. If we were to do true free trade, apart from just a few successes, Canada would cease to exist because they cannot compete with America. US based companies would drive out most of their businesses or buy anything worth buying. They know this. You know this.
While I don't want them, they'd likely do better economically as a state or two (territory maybe).

Last, he's not invading or annexing so other than ruffled feathers, trade negotiations will continue, and we'll likely be in a better spot. Again it's a blip, hardly anything to be hysterical about and drone on and on about. But drama begets drama.

out of touch with reality.

*There's a confusion about China. The popular conception is that companies come to China because of low labor cost. I'm not sure what part of China they go to, but the truth is China stopped being the low-labor-cost country many years ago. And that is not the reason to come to China from a supply point of view. The reason is because of the skill, and the quantity of skill in one location and the type of skill it is."
-Apple CEO Tim Cook
https://www.inc.com/glenn-leibowitz/apple-ceo-tim-cook-this-is-number-1-reason-we-make-iphones-in-china-its-not-what-you-think.html

It makes no sense for corporations to make investments which face significant risks of supply chain interruption to the realities of global geopolitics. Wise corporate leadership will seek to minimize that risk by bringing larger percentages of their production home. With incentives, Apple and others will start to locate more of their production here. We are watching it happen in real time, thanks to policies of this administration. Can't happen all at once, for reasons Cook cites. But over time, it is going to happen. And it all started NOW because of the policies of this administration.

China had little of that skill 20 years ago. It was built over time. it will take time to build those skillsets here, but we will.

The American people have lived with their choice of globalism for several decades now and have decisively rejected it to construct a new economic model.

So we will put in place new macroeconomic structures to redirect the flows of economic activity, and let the markets sort out all the details. That's what happened in the post-WWII era - Marshall Plan, Bretton Woods, IMF, World Bank, etc....followed up by decades of tweaking to adjust to developments, to solve enormous problems - rebuild war-torn allies AND adversaries, and lift enough developing countries into stable, market-oriented systems that could resist the international communist movement. It worked fantastically well. I marvel at the minds who put all that in place. Incredibly far sighted. But 80 years down the road, we have different problems, many of them the inherent trade-offs of a globalist order. We need a new world order. And we are watching its birth at this moment in time. So many are going to miss it, all distracted by the antics of the architect's orange skin and golden hair.

Have never seen any president so constantly on the move; attempting to bring wealth and security to the American people.

Reagan could not hold a candle compared to what Trump is doing.

Now he is the Middle East attempting to attract trillions of dollars worth of investment into the US economy.

Did Biden even attempt to do any such things ? Would Harris have even begun to try with her obviously limited skill sets ?

It's ok to hate on Trump; especially after years of unrelenting media propaganda.

But good grief open your eyes.

It's also ok to finally realize we are watching history in the making.

As for the rest, agree it was a good weekend. As I said above, he's good at negotiating peace deals. He deserves kudos for the India-Pakistan spat.
those stupid policies are working out splendidly.

Remember how I've said corporations are going to "move a greater percentage of the supply chains inside the USA? Apple planning to invest $500b to move parts of its operation back home.

Trump says he talked to Apple CEO Tim Cook after China tariff rollback

No serious adult should care too much about what the Canadians think about all this. It's good for us. If they don't like it, they can go wax their skis

Lol. No, not so much, unless by splendidly you mean Trump is securing non-binding oral commitments that make it a lot more expensive for Americans to buy products. An
out of touch with reality.

I don't disagree with you in principle. I simply do not believe a blanket tariff policy was necessary to achieve the end result here. A more targeted approach would have hurt Americans and American businesses less. And we still haven't begun to feel the effects.

Great history.
Hope you are right. Trump talks a big game, but let's be honest - there aren't any results to speak of yet. I think he could have done a lot of what you're describing without instituting blanket tariffs.

LOL. Of course, total fealty is always demanded by the Trumpist.

Nah, not total fealty. Just balance and fair play. We know Trump embarrasses you, that you have to relentlessly criticize his every word & deed to maintain your self-image.
