LMAO they "want" a new CBA... Yeah it's called having a job.
And what would you guys do in their shoes? Say "hmmmm, so our business loses money every year, huh... Why dont we just play for free?" No of course they want money. You do too. We all want a slice of the pie.
I think you're missing the point. Plenty of WNBA players are loudly and repeatedly making the claim they need to be paid like NBA players. I'm not suggesting they play for free, merely that they have some self awareness and realize they exist solely because of the NBA's charity. If I were them, I'd probably be counting my blessings, doing what I can to maximize my brand to make what I can in endorsements, and keeping my mouth shut on my salary hoping the NBA doesn't reconsider.
The point is - there is no pie.
They are delusional. They are not worth the same as NBA players. The attendance of their games & tv ratings should provide clues.
They might need remedial classes in economics and math to understand the reality of the situation. Maybe the classes should start with the laws of supply & demand.
I can't stand the WNBA and am disappointed the NBA supported it as long as they have. Furthermore, I really don't look forward to ESPN, etc jamming it down our throats during the dogs days of summer when nothing else is on.
That said, I did hear that they are expected to start turning a profit in the near future and the players want a percentage of that. I don't think they deserve 50ish% like the men do- but if that is indeed true, I don't mind them asking for something more since they currently get less than 10%. If they are not going to turn a profit- they look even more like the fools than they already are saying "pay us what you owe us. "
