No I was not and thanks. Hopefully we have better candidates coming through the system this time around that we can discuss.

I am convinced 50% of the disagreements reasonable people have is due to disinformation and pure ignorance.

Realize your more sympathetic to the left, but the left-wing media stopped hiding the ball in 2016 and is just openly become an advocacy organization as we continue to see; hence, so many are disinformed. I have an old LWNJ friend that really does not believe 60 Minutes edited the Kamala Harris interview and it is just a bribe to Trump ... of course when you share the actual transcript and the video you get the "whatever" storm off.

That is a good example, especially how hard it is for someone to change a belief, due to their biases which filters the information. Examples like you presented exist on both sides of the spectrum. It's interesting how the spectrum has changed in the last few decades, as I have pretty much remained a moderate conservative but many on this forum interpret that as leftist. I guess it should be amusing, but it's quite irritating.

The reaction to that is often "both sides." But my next question is okay, give me three commensurate examples. And I do not mean examples of getting it wrong, but I mean pretend journalists willfully doing political activism in such a blatant way.

I can think just off the top of my head:
1. Writing a story about an issue and then retracting it when it realized a Democrat was president
2. Completely ignoring the Hunter laptop story
3. Pretending Joe Biden was sentient and all the videos were "deep fakes"
4. Claiming the 2016 election was stolen by Russian hackers with no evidence
5. Actively editing an interview to make a Democrat candidate look less stupid

That's more than "getting it wrong." That does not even get into the constant double standards with the way things are covered - think about how the Graham Platner rape allegations are covered vs. say the Brett Kavanagh accusations.

I appreciate your POV and the conversation. And I appreciate this level of detail and specificity often causes you guys to sort of retire for a few months and come back spewing the same disinformation as before. But a few more ...
6. There has been exponentially more "stories" about the group of "white nationalists" peacefully riding the D.C. Metro than there was about the immigrant being murdered on the Charlotte bus.
7. The left wing media making up "white nationalist" labels for groups like the Patriot Front - despite zero evidence - while call the Burn Loot Murder riots of 2020 "mostly peaceful"
8. Hysterics over January 6th while completely ignoring the fact that Barack Obama's mentors literally bombed the Capitol and killed more dozens of people

Look forward to talking again in a couple of months.

The loon factor of the far-left has completely launched and taken over the Democrat party.

Are there no just normal left-of-center people anymore ... almost every new Democrat candidate is an absolutely bat****e crazy radical nutjob.

this we can agree on. Dems gone cray on the left, R's gone cray on the right. I'm with you , what ever happened to folks from both sides have abandoned anything resembling nibbling around the edges. Sad what we have become.

We do agree on this one. There are no reasonable Dems that are running. All the decent ones, don't get enough support.

I do agree with JR, this is a US politics issue on both sides.

Again, I'll ask for specifics.

What is a "loony" Republican position?

The "both sides" argument is lazy. I can specifically outline loony positions on the left. Today's right would be about where the Democrat Party was in 2000.

Well, there are many that would say Trumps and MAGA's "Independence Day" was whacky, including the courts.

Many would say Stephen Miller's ICE strategies are extreme. (Not to mention his infatuation with Dean Martin Special re-runs...)

Many would say Hegseth's "Real Man" military from the Tony Robbin'esque meeting of Flag Officers to the Testosterone testing push the bounds of normalcy.

ICE Barbie?

Geez, what a freak show of a Cabinet.

Boebert dry humping her dates in theaters.

Victor Marx, the Demon Hunter in COL.
Madison Cawthorn in FL
John Strand in DC. Underwear model pardoned by Trump for Jan 6th...

It is not a Blue or Red thing, it is an extremist thing.

Again, I don't think you're quite following. You're citing personalities not policies. That's fine but not really germane to the discussion. I mean both parties have its share of strange personalities, but that's not really pertinent. Not point in really arguing as it is just subjective opinion.

We could spend days arguing whether the 250 Celebration was more or less strange than Biden hosting topless trainies or if Hegseth is loonier than the "admiral" Biden appointed that showed up to work in a dress every day. Was Bondi worse that Garland, who weaponized the DOJ to do personal political favors for the Biden family? What about Congressmen than think islands can capsize over due to military equipment. Or a Secretary of Defense and a Secretary of Transportation so ineffectual that both took extended leaves of absence and no one noticed ... that's a "freak show" of a cabinet.

However, it is telling that that TDSers struggle to argue policy specifics and almost always retreat to personalities and "mean tweets."

So I will ask again - what is one "extremist" policy of the GOP? Granted, that too is subjective but I am curious what policies you think are "extreme" and your alternative. I can name regressive extremism off the top of my head, and I do not have to divert the discussion to personalities - it is more of a coincidence that the loony policies from the left happen to be espoused by candidates that seem personally loony as well.

Well, the first ones are policies. Trump's tariff policies have been all over the board, extreme and weilded like some mythical sword. That it remains to be seen how harmful or beneficial they are. But, even you have to admit that there has been no consistent manner in which they are being used.

ICE, policies have been extreme. Minneapolis was like something out of a Fallout game. Miller's policies are out there.

Hegseth's "real men" and now T-testing is whacko. It is comic bookish.

Robert Kennedy's policies???? Come on, that is a book in itself.

Those are by the current Administration that are extremist. We can delve into Congress.

As I said, the Dems are just as bad. Theirs tend to be more social oriented.

Okay, so you named two policies:
1. Tariffs
2. ICE

What I am looking for is a little more detail

1. Tariffs - do you oppose all tariffs? Do you support some tariffs? If so, how much?
2. ICE - do you oppose immigration enforcement? Should there be no ICE?

I think part of the problem - common among Democrats - is you sort of use what I call "comfort words" like "extreme" just to label any policy you disagree with. It is a different measure to disagree with a policy versus calling it "extreme." For example, in 2000, the Democrat Party were both big fans of tariffs and ICE - would you call that party "extreme?" Did you think Obama was an extremist president - he supported deporting illegals and there were myriad fatal ICE shootings during his term ... so yes, or no, was Obama an extremist? If not, what makes him different than Trump (other than "MEANT TWEETS").

All your other stuff again goes back to personality ... we can agree to disagree whether "real men" or "men cosplaying as women" are better for the military ... having "real men" in the military would not have been controversial five minutes ago. Do you think an "admiral" that comes to work every day dressed as a woman is comic bookish?

What policies of RFK do you disagree with? You think removing dyes and chemicals from foods and focusing on healthy food supply chain is silly?

Again, maybe it is a vocabulary problem - you seem to define "extreme" as "anything you disagree with" whereas I would posit a much different definition.

Well, you are consistent. Consistently a F-ing idiot. You think I care what YOU think??? I am just amazed at how consistently wrong you can be. I mean really, you have to work at it. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. If I am on the same side as you, then I step back and reconsider my position...

Go practice some straight arm saluting or goosestepping, I am sure there is a Fascist somewhere you can follow. Maybe Stephen Miller is speaking somewhere, that will get you real excited...

I do enjoying watching you yell at clouds.

I am sure the irony is lost on you of course that you revert to calling people names because you lack the intellect to engage in policy discussions. There are not a ton of poster who can be accused of doing X and then just go "all in" on X ... like I noted you could not really discuss policy specifics but reverted to making it about personality, and your thought process was ... let me double down and start calling me names ... I mean you have to really try to be that much of a meme, but ... lots of clouds and not enough old men to yell at them.

There is a reason my first post stated you could not get specific and could only resort to name calling ... and once again, you do not disappoint. You and the other Karens continue to entertain.

It's like my prediction you could not respond to specifics was correct.

I told you 10 responses ago you would not be able to respond and get mad and storm off.

Do you think it's weird you cannot explain your own positions or whenever anyone asks you specifics you call names and storm off?
