Newsom ramps up his criticism of Israel, accuses Netanyahu of leading Trump into war with Iran
"In the latest mark of how much the conversation among Democratic leaders around Israel is shifting, California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday night blamed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for pushing the US into war with Iran and said the United States must reconsider future military aid to its longtime ally."

If republicans don't stop slandering legitimate opposition to Israel's foreign and domestic policy as "anti-semitic" they are going to suffer a an electoral apocalypse in November. Not a fan of California's American Trudeau, but he isn't wrong about this.

My problem with your post, Realitybites, is that I don't see substance to support the claims you make. In fact, from where I sit the attacks on Netanyahu are pretty close to slander, except of course that his office would make it difficult for him to legally pursue the claim.
Certainly those who hate Netanyahu are saying a lot of emotional things for which proof is scarce as a poor Congressman.
And supporting Newsom's position on this is absurd, if you listen to him in depth.

Polls show Republicans winning on immigration, the economy, gender issues, and foreign policy. All we need to do to win the midterms is to keep our message focused on those issues. https://t.co/N5QAIzZcz0

At this point, it is pretty clear that the midterms are going to be an extinction level event for the GOP.
This war is not going to be over anytime soon.
If we go with the land invasion, casualties will be higher than Iraq.
Energy price driven inflation will be rampant.
The question is where do we go from here?
A democrat house and senate will impeach Trump and possibly remove him from office. The social and domestic policies of the Biden years will be back.
Twice the voters have given the Republicans full control of the executive and legislative branches (2016 and 2024) and twice the Republicans have failed to carry out the will of the voters.
Well, they are drastically reducing our military footprint in the Middle East…just not the way we were hoping.Realitybites said:

OK Eeyore, let's have a closer look at that panic attack:
"At this point, it is pretty clear that the midterms are going to be an extinction level event for the GOP."
At worst the GOP loses the House and Senate but still has substantial representation. In no way does even that create an 'extinction-level event".
"This war is not going to be over anytime soon."
Depends on definitions. First, only the pant-wetters are sure we will send troops in to Iran, and there is no actual evidence we are moving troops there at this time in any significant numbers.
"If we go with the land invasion, casualties will be higher than Iraq."
Again, zero evidence at this time we will make a land invasion. People talk, usually the Iranians, the idiots and the ignorant, but there is no serious sign we plan to invade.
"Energy price driven inflation will be rampant."
Change your underwear. Gas prices jump and decline all the time, and only a moron would not understand current prices are not going to stay high the rest of the year. It's not like Biden is still in the White House.
"The question is where do we go from here?"
It may be stunning news to you, but our military has planned for this scenario many times over the years, and despite the gossip circles our President is speaking a lot more with heads of the regional nations and his military than anyone this board is freaking out about.
"A democrat house and senate will impeach Trump and possibly remove him from office. The social and domestic policies of the Biden years will be back."
Yes, Democrats would certainly impeach Trump if they take over the House. So what? There is zero chance of a Senate conviction, and if you don't understand that you need professional help.
Keep in mind as well, that the Democrats have not been exactly smart in their own messaging and the polls reflect that. Given the events in 2026 so far, Democrats ought to be 12-18 points ahead in polls, but they are not. This is partly because Trump has largely done what he promised, and what he was elected to do. Fetterman figured out the Democrats are heading very much in the wrong direction, but the DNC remains committed to the plans that voters already rejected.
There is a long way yet to the point where voters decide the 2026 election, and assuming the Democrats will win because Trump attacked Iran is incredibly short-sighted.
"Twice the voters have given the Republicans full control of the executive and legislative branches (2016 and 2024) and twice the Republicans have failed to carry out the will of the voters."
You just explained why Trump still has support. The voters know better then to fall back on proven losers. For all his warts, Trump is doing more of what voters want than any potential replacement. Ignoring that is a crucial mistake.

Trump's war with Iran and his trade war with the world have pretty much sealed the Republicans fate in November.
There is no better example than the Republicans not being able to get The Save Act passed, - a measure that 80 percent of the country supports. Beyond pitiful.

You are wrong, RD2. The election will be decided by the economy, sometime in May.

If this thing is,still going in November it will be called a never ending war. You guys keep trying to apply logic, your logic, to public sentiment. That doesn't work. It does not matter if it is or isn't if the public thinks it is, it is
