You blame Trump for so many things, FLBear, I think he's your go-to-scapegoat for anything you get mad about.

He is the Commander in Chief. These are his decisions on his watch. Why wouldn't he be responsible. He decided to attack Iran.

So Iran's mullahs are just innocent bystanders?

Spare me the hypocrisy.

Update(1855ET): In a huge battlefield development and significant first and setback for US forces operating against Iran, a large American military aerial refueling tanker has gone down over Western Iraq, where it was operating in connection with Operation Epic Fury. CENTCOM says there's a rescue effort ongoing, amid likely casualties. In an official statement it said:
Quote:

U.S. Central Command is aware of the loss of a U.S. KC-135 refueling aircraft. The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury, and rescue efforts are ongoing. Two aircraft were involved in the incident. One of the aircraft went down in western Iraq, and the second landed safely.

But the statement also sought to emphasize: "This was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire." But Tehran is contradicting this:
Quote:

Iran claims responsibility for shooting down US refueling plane, says US refueling plane was downed with all crew killed in Western Iraq.

Typically three members operate KC-135, but there can sometimes be another navigators, or possibly up to six on board. This could be an event with serous casualties.

I hope and pray everyone shows enough class to not celebrates the death of my Air Force brothers.

With you. We have KC-135s flying out of airbase here. Several pilots workout at gym. PJs are the best, if anyone can get them they can.

At least it was during a refueling activity over Iraq, so if they were able to bail out - they have a chance. I can only assume that the Jolly Green II Choppers with some badass Maroon Berets on board are/were headed that way. Godspeed to them all. Was stationed at RAF Alconbury with the 39th SOG - both Pararescue (Maroon Beret) and Combat Controllers (Scarlet Beret). They all go through the same training as USN SEALs and USA Green Berets and USMC Force Recon and Delta Force. Then they all are trained in a specialized talent. I did limited training with them - nicest troops that you would NEVER want to jack with. Also, most them are like 5'10" and 175 lbs, and come from all walk of life and upbringing.

Not just anyone makes it through Superman school. There were PJs at Pope. I also remember Northridge earthquake crazy SOBs (complement) from AZ went in collapsed buildings, Emergency Services brought them in. If they need to be found, they will find them.

Your experience sounds pretty cool.

I bet there was some serious training and competition between them and the 82nd Airborne Rangers stationed at Ft Bragg!

Rangers were at Benning and Hunter Ligget.
Bragg had 82nd and 7th Group when i was there. 82nd is light infantry. Been to Green Ramp at Pope enough. Pope was nice for an AFB. They still used 141s back then!

"Two aircraft were involved in the incident. One of the aircraft went down in western Iraq, and the second landed safely. This was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire."
It is unclear if there are fatalities. U.S. officials told Air & Space Forces Magazine that rescue efforts were ongoing and the situation was still unclear.
The second aircraft that landed safely is also a KC-135, U.S. officials told Air & Space Forces Magazine. A KC-135 operating from Israel declared an in-flight emergency March 12, flight tracking data shows. The U.S. military has yet to say whether that aircraft was involved in the same incident. Details of the second aircraft were first reported by CNN.
The unofficial Facebook site Air Force amn/nco/snco posted a photograph, purportedly of the second Stratotanker, after it landed. The photograph shows that a significant portion of that aircraft's tail had been lost. Air & Space Forces Magazine has not independently confirmed the authenticity of the photograph."

If this is accurate, it sounds like a refueling accident.

But if picture mentioned at the end with the aircraft that landed safely missing a chunk of its tail is authentic, it doesn't sound good for the one that went down and those aboard it.

Again, even if there was a budget limit for the war, there is no way the US government would admit that publicly to give Iran any encouragement

Exactly. The idiots demanding a timeline are the same ones who demand Trump negotiate with his cards facing everyone else at the poker table. Then they use their ignorance of the actual plans to imagine the worst case scenario and condemn Trump over their imagined flaws.
Our vibrations were getting nasty. But why? I was puzzled, frustrated... Had we deteriorated to the level of dumb beasts?

Uh the Gulf Arab States (Sunni Muslims & Arabs) have been pushing the USA to attack Iran (Shiite Muslim & Persian) and take out their biggest regional rival for decades….

You are telling me that after decades of lobbying us to attack Iran they are now mad about it?

Either that is fake news…or the Arabs are even more shifty and two faced than we thought

Perfectly logical reaction. They believed the hype, that we could protect them and Iran would lose quickly. Now they're correcting course.

At its narrowest point, the shipping channel is 10,000 feet wide, not 35 miles wide.

11 Reapers have been shot down by the Iranians since the start of the war.

You can't defend it, contain it and bypass it.
For what we have spent we could build or enhance alternate ports that do not rely on the Straits that are defensible. Trying to sink 1000 speed boats is not happening, heen a problem for decades. bottle em up and let them rot. Invest in Oman and UAE for energy distribution.

or, we take it. Like the UK and Gibraltor. You guys ready for that?

Unfortunate news. Rest in peace.

Four confirmed dead in US military refuelling plane crash in Iraq

Four of six crew members on board a US KC-135 military aerial refuelling plane that crashed in western Iraq yesterday have been confirmed dead, US Central Command said Friday.

While the circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, USCentcom made clear on Friday that it was not caused by hostile fire or friendly fire.

The identities of the members who died are being withheld their families can be notified, USCentcom said.
This plane was Ithe fourth US aircraft lost since the US and Israel began launching strikes against Iran on 28 February.

That brings our total KIA to 13, I believe.

As stated days ago……fatigue resulting from days of intense combat operations…..inevitably leads to fatalities.

Equipment failure can also lead to fatalities.

And those refueling jets are extremely old.

Very difficult to replace.

Iran has been blackmailing the West involving the Straits for over 30 years.

The only answer now that we are committed……is regime change.

Bomb their electric grid, oil facilities and carpet bomb their ground troops.

Is what it is.

Hope Trump has the resolve to be the most unpopular president since LBJ.

I wonder if there is a possible pipeline solution to pump the oil through a pipeline to the other side to the Strait of Hormutz. Of course it would take several years to build a pipeline, but this issue has been around for several years.
