You do not have to watch the games. I have not watched any of them, relying on clips of the rare goal. I did watch part of team USA's final game but they played terribly so I lost interest.
It's easy for me to say "don't watch" since I'm not a soccer fan. I cheered for team USA because I'm an American patriot and I got caught up in all the hype because the foreigners were having a grand time in the US and I'm an American patriot. That's it.
