Feel like Mexico was just a minute or so away from tying the game.
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier

The good news, is that after the World Cup we Americans get to keep enjoying BBQ, great music and venues, and of course real football in the fall.

Belgium, win or lose the rest of the way, has to go back to being France's little brother.

In all my travels around the world it has always fascinated me just how much soccer unites the people in these countries where soccer is king. Talking with people in places like Brazil and Argentina where fans would tell me that it is one of those sports that kids can play on a dirt lot with a ball. And it doesn't even have to be a soccer ball. They come from nothing, many of them, and all it takes is a ball and a dirt lot that can lead to amazing dreams for these kids. And I like that.

The USA just is not a place where soccer has that same kind of hold on people. Sure there are soccer leagues all over the country for the youth. But beyond that Americans in the USA really don't care all that much about it.
And five minutes after the USA lost, all these "fans" will be back to not caring what happens to team USA on the soccer field. It's just what it is. Football, basketball, and baseball are just too big here.

What has been interesting though is we've been hearing about all the praise for the USA coming from the fans who have traveled here from all over the world.

But looking at my IG account, once the USA lost, there are people from all over the world just piling it on the USA. Praising and thanking Belgium for beating the USA. And 80% of the comments actually remark on DT. lol
Apparently TDS is not just a national illness. It's international. They can't even bring up a soccer loss without mentioning DT. They think about him when they wake up, throughout the day, and when they go to sleep at night. Just like those in the USA do who don't like him.

Round of 16, improvement. Played to our ranking - 16. Beating Paraguay was our World Cup. Wonder if Coach knew them better being from Argentina?

He clearly was not ready for Belgium, US had no answer for the cross and Belgium attacked relentlessly. Wife's take away was Belgium was a fun team to watch...

Group draw seems to be everything in this tourney. See Canada...

Overall, successful World Cup for USA. Cities shined, visitors loved people, however soccer is not Futbol yet...

Belgium's soccer team probably has a bright future. I was in Liege, Belgium last year and it looked more like the Belgian Congo than Belgium. School had just let out and I didnt see hardly any actual Belgian kids it was all African and mid eastern. I wasnt surprised when I saw that Liege had one of the highest crime rates in Europe bc it certainly seemed more sketchy than the cities in the Netherlands and Germany that I visited.

Wow!

Rooting for Belgian is just being a contrarian.

I have a brother who is a Green Bay packer fan. Traitor is a step too far for him. However, I did call CPS on him for putting g his daughter in their gear.
