For most of 2019 they had no idea how bad it was going to get and beds were a real issue. Not just in the US, but the world. As we got into 2020, it stabilized and treatments became much more effective. For some, COVID was a cold, if that. For others, it was on your back for weeks and after long term issues, my neighbor had that where his wife thought he was going to die and called the ambulance. It was not just a cold for everyone and the hospitals were not just "going along".

To say the Government does not have the authority to take actions to stop the spread is ludicrous. Did some States go to far, I believe so. Should we have shut down everything, no. Do I get why it was done, Yes. Did they have the authority, Yes.

But you guys keep re-writing what happened.

<TriggerWarning>Asking for specifics</TriggerWarning>

Would love for you to post the part of the Constitution or any federal or state laws that gives the the federal or state government the authority to arbitrarily shut down particular businesses. Interesting take though. Was that moral and humane?

I get the grandstanding by Paul. But, look at the actual facts of what happened. There is much more to it than a Government text. You guys are on a witch hunt. If he did something Prosecute him. under State law. If this one guy is culpable why is he not being prosecuted in State courts? You guys need to make evaluations on more than rhetoric.

He made recommendations. Look at what the actual guidance was to use the shots by the medical world and manufacturer. In this case, Fauci was concerned about 1st trimester, they primarily gave it to 2nd and 3rd trimester and the safety data supported it. What did he do wrong? He wrote in his notes he had concerns? Have you ever been involved in making a decision and you not agreeing or having concerns but the technical people saying it was OK and being overruled? Or, having to publicly support something you don't agree 100%?

That would require a certain level of responsibility and technical knowledge, so you may not have experienced it. Think of it this way, when you are told to use ice cream mix 5 days beyond the best by date do you still give the ice cream cones out at the Dairy Queen you work?

Unfortunately more drivel from young idealists who can't even wrap their heads around the true consequences of just leaving borders open. And if you don't even understand that then how can you trust anything else they believe.
Funny though how they all expect the USA to be a free for all, but they have nothing to say about other countries (most?) that have secure immigration and border policies themselves.
Ironically, if people like this were ever impacted directly by such loosey goosey policies, they will be the first to cry foul, sue, criticize, etc.. They're the same defund the police types who beg for mercy while they're peeing their pants when they need a LEO pronto. It's all great to speak out AGAINST, until you actually need these brave men and women in law enforcement to help you out.
As for the socialism thing, they are just privileged Americans who don't know any better. Their idealists who think communism and socialism sound sexy. And edgy. So they're for it.
You could have an immigrant who has fled socialism and communism stating, to their face, what happened to them in those countries and why they fled, and these privileged American "socialists" would still not get it.
And try asking this dude, if socialism is so great, why are the American socialist leaders with the loudest voices wealthy? And what does he think about the fact they will stay wealthy. While the people who vote for them are kept down because THEY are the ones who are supposed to share their money. Not the wealthy leaders.

I think the facts according to the law should determine accountability, not shock value from personal notes because a guy was excited to meet Barabar Streisand.

There was nothing this guy said that was out of line with the rest of the mainstream scientific community. Nothing he said was outside the line of his opinions, some agreed with others and some didn't.

Now, if they want to bring him to State court on any charges and produce evidence, such as boxes of documents stored in bathrooms showing fraud or illegal use of funds, all for it. If you want to berate that guy because he thought the shot was dangerous in the 1st trimester and the Food and Drug Administration, Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said otherwise in 10,000 doses? Seriously, where is the criminal/evil action??? You do know the difference between a theoretical threat and an evidence based??

Honest question, you are not involved in internal discussions on findings that you don't make public? You think the public should be given transparency on every technical discussion, whether or not there is evidence to back it up? You think that happens in energy? defense? finance? business? Health? engineering? There are no back and forth's over potential outcomes, it is all laid out for you to know?

You guys supporting this circus are no different than the Red Baiters and McCarthyism. Until the light turns on you.

Yawn

I have come to the conclusion you were just born stupid.

Short answer: he didn't lie, but the criticism isn't invented out of nothing either. Here's what actually happened.

The texts. In a January 2021 exchange released this week by Sens. Ron Johnson and Rand Paul, Fauci said there was "no data or theoretical reason to believe that vaccinating early versus later in pregnancy would be preferred," then followed up noting that fever and cytokine response after the second dose "theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester." A day later he wrote that when data are lacking in pregnant women "one must weigh the potential risks against the benefits," noting COVID itself can be serious in pregnancy, and that more than 10,000 pregnant women had been vaccinated with no issues arising. CBS News

Why that isn't a lie. The mechanism he raised is generic high fever in the first trimester is a known risk factor regardless of cause, and that's why the concern was "theoretical." He wasn't sitting on safety data showing harm; he explicitly said the opposite in the same exchange. And the CDC didn't recommend vaccination in pregnancy until August 2021, seven months later, citing accumulated data showing no increased miscarriage risk. Raising a hypothesis privately in January and stating publicly in August that the data came back clean is how the process is supposed to work. Forbes

The fair version of the criticism. Whether officials communicated that uncertainty adequately at the time is a legitimate argument. By mid-2021 Fauci's public messaging was flatly reassuring, and people making mandate-affected decisions could reasonably feel the "we don't have much data yet" caveat got compressed out. That's a real communications critique it's just a different thing from lying about known harm.

The 82% number is wrong. This is the claim doing most of the work online, and it's a math error. The Shimabukuro NEJM study reported 104 spontaneous abortions among 827 completed pregnancies (12.6%), and critics noted that 700 of those 827 got their first dose in the third trimester so they divided 104 by the remaining 127 and got 82%. The problem: at the data cutoff, most women vaccinated in the first or second trimester were still pregnant. Their outcomes hadn't happened yet, so they weren't in the denominator. The incomplete follow-up meant pregnancies ending early were disproportionately represented among known outcomes, while many that would end in live births hadn't reached an outcome yet. You'd get a similarly alarming number doing this to any pregnancy cohort mid-study. A 2023 pooled analysis of 21 studies covering roughly 150,000 pregnant women looked directly at miscarriage risk after COVID vaccination and multiple studies since have found no increased risk of miscarriage or other pregnancy complications. New England Journal of Medicine + 3

One clarification on your wording: COVID infection during pregnancy does carry elevated risk stillbirth, preterm birth, ICU admission. That part was never disputed. The fight is entirely about the vaccine.

Do you support Fauci lying about funding game of function research?

Do you support Fauci efforts to actively suppress that fact and pressure other experts to push the "wet market" propaganda?

Do you support the Fauci's refusal to acknowledge there was uncertainty around the vaccine's impacts on pregnant women?

Do you support Fauci's efforts to repress speech that disagree with him?

Do you support him having people cancelled that disagreed with him?

Do you support his claim that going to church will give you covid but Burning Looting Murdering would not?

I know these are specific so you'll run and hide ... it's funny how you cite the Big Scary Word "McCarthyism" - which has been proven more closer to reality than you were taught - yet sort of gloss over the Covid Authoritarianism led by Fauci that did much more to civil rights and national hysteria than McCarthy ever did ... not even noting the irony you yell "FACIST" at clouds and do not even know what it means.
