Sounds like French has a factual point

And the leaders of the GOP can't go on forever simply kicking the can down the road on the issue of replacement migration/colonization

To be fair, unless I was very-well connected or was an exceptional student and going into Engineering, Comp Sci, or maybe Chemistry - joining the military is going to be the much smarter option for kids getting out of high school today. Veterans get so many free handouts the rest of us dont receive its the best way to power-level in real life... claim disability and get $5000 a month... dont have to pay property tax... get free healthcare... get lower rates on insurance... preferential hiring... and the list goes on and on

You are making more assumptions than I am. You gave no idea who those students are any more than I do. The very well might be DEI students since UT had a long history of racism discrimination in admissions and, like Dems elsewhere, a history of ignoring the law. More importantly, whether these specific students were admitted because of illegal discrimination or not, they ard being used in the tweet to make the point that it does happen. That's what the discussion is about.

As for "Americans being harmed", it's not about their ethnicity it's about their citizenship. American citizens of all ethnicities are harmed by the crime wave of illegals aided by Dems. Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, and many others are dead as are the dozens of people killed by illegals with illegal CDLs, including some who were themselves immigrants. On top of this are the many victims of rape, theft, and fraud. These victims are all ethnicities. That is irrelevant: they are Americans victim of crimes caused by and sided by the Dems.

The Dems are the party of crime and criminals. They are pro-crime, anti-victim, and anti-law. They are akin to the mafia in their callous disregard for the people.

I cited the crime wave caused by Dems and perpetrated by illegals. I did not focus on any particular nationality or ethnicity because that's not the point. Curiously, though, a large number of those illegal CDL holders who have killed people on American highways are from India (and wildly several were named Singh). The issue is not that they are Indian. It's that they have illegal CDLs, do not know English or our highway laws (& don't care), and they endanger everyone by driving on our highways. The concentration of Indians is totally on the blue states such as California, Illinois, and New York that illegally gave them the CDLs. As in most circumstances, the bigotry is on full display by the Left.

They are just as much Americans as those of us whose ancestors came in the 17th or 18th centuries or were already here to greet them. In other words, people with an American heritage.

So you are saying that a bunch of kids going crazy at an SEC football game doesn't want to assimilate? What do they need ot do to assimilate? How do they qualify as assimilated?

If this is considered "assimilating" what do you consider "not assimilating"?

You are upset that they are building churches and doing business with local farmers?

No assimilating is not working, trying to change the structure of the government, committing crimes, etc.

You ask a good question, though. Does remaining a Hindu prevent an Indian from assimilating? Does living in a neighborhood with other Indians mean that an Indian has not assimilated? Does speaking English with an accent mean an Indian has not assimilated?

This monstrosity should be used as target practice by the artillery corps

If it is height that bothers you, I guess we blow up a bunch of crosses too,

If you love India so much why dont you move there?

I feel the same w/ historian and Israel.

You guys seem to love foreigners and foreign countries more than Americans and America but refuse to leave.

The whole point of America is to love ideals, not groups. I love America because people can immigrate here. You love America as long as it is white.

American is NOT just an ideal....its a physically place...a country and a homeland for its citizens

That country does have various ideals. And some are in fact very universal...and some that are particular to Americans. And the country is itself quite open and welcoming of new comers in general.

But people like Sir Roger Scruton have long explained that a country is a tangible living community bound by a specific landscape/homeland, shared language, customs, and inherited institutions, history, and values.

So its more than just "ideals". And it would be as strange to love America for only ethno reasons as it is for you to love it only because people can immigrate to it.

"Blood & Soil" vs "Ideals uber Alles"....these are both strange and seem very fanatical.

I keep asking the question and none of the racists can answer it. What "language, cusotms, and institutions" are the Asians and Indians hurting?

They may in fact not be hurting any...

I get the strong feeling you are not upset about the debate specifics themselves....you seem angry the debate is happening at all.

That anyone in the West daring to have a problem with mass migration seems to trigger you on a deep level. (Especially if its White people who have a problem with it.)

You view migration through a moral lens.....

mass migration does hurt communities and institutions though. It displaces citizens who'd normally fill these roles, it lowers wages, it impacts housing costs, and it burdens government institutions.

There is a place for controlled and limited immigration - Indians absolutely have a place in our work force and can be great people to work with. But it should not come at the expense of the citizenry.

You must have flunked economics. Bringing in productive people creates more opportunity; it doesn't displace anyone.

So you are making the case for slave labor as well.

I didn't flunk economics, I know it quite well. Better than you.

You want to pretend that bringing in millions of people has zero negative impact on the citizenry. You're wrong. The vast majority of "productive" immigrants coming here on work visas aren't anything special. They take advantage of the system, and the absolutely lower the wages for citizens. There's zero chance you've actually hired anywhere near technology. You'll believe whatever the TV tells you.

Well slave labor was productive. But it was a human travesty and a mortal sin. So you can't really compare the two without being disingenious.

Of course immigration has an impact, nobody is pretending any different. Your understanding of the impact is just flat out wrong.

The mass migration of third worlders is not the same as the importation of slaves but it is closer to that than it is to a meritocracy. Dutch migrants are more like indentured servants being imported by elitists who will pay them lower wages. That's what harms the economy, depresses wages, and otherwise harms Americans. Many of them are on taxpayer funded benefits, contributing to the deficit and further degrading the economy.

Additionally, the huge influx of illegals under Biden greatly increased demand for housing, food, health care, fuel, and everything else thus increasing prices for everyone. It's called Bidenflation for a reason. While Trump & Congress have brought inflation down, thankfully, this gif not mean that prices have all gone down. Lower inflation does not mean deflation.

All of this is tangible. It harms all Americans.

That's only accurate because American citizens that love America and respect our history and culture tend to reject the fascist or communist criminal enterprise that the Democrat party has become. They are smart enough to know better. Many of them came from countries that were like what the Dems are trying to do to America and they have experienced the horrors that result from such policies.

Which stats are those? The national crime rate spiked in 2020 (which was, *checks notes, before Biden was in office) and have steadily dropped every year since, including in the Blue cities and states you mention.

The defund the police movement, right or wrong, has nothing to do with immigration or the crime rate argument you are attempting to make, it is a convenient red herring you're attempting to tack on to your weak/unsubstantiated/false claim.

Not always. Stalin and Hitler were allies and started the war in Europe together. They were rivals, just like each one hated all other groups with similar ideas but different leaders. The Nazis battled against socialists and communists, the Bolsheviks fought a civil war against the Menshiveks (socialists who were less radical). Hitler purged Roehm and the SA, Stalin purged many of the top Bolsheviks. It's like the Dems today: DSA commies vs old guard socialists.

Crime increased dramatically over the past few years and was only lowered when Trump helped DC, Memphis, and other cities get it under control.

Defunding the police was about crime and criminals, a police of the pro-crime Dems. Illegal aliens are criminals who often commit additional crimes, especially the gangbangers Sleepy Joe imported. The Dems who facilitated this invasion are guilty of treason. They have lots of blood on their hands.

So there should be clear evidence for all of these things you are claiming. Curious you keep pointing only to "feels".

As noted previously, crime rates were dropping nation wide, including in the cities you cite prior to Trump taking office for the second time. Specific cities did experience a faster drop due to national guard / targeted federal officer deployment, but that is largely still completely separate from your broad claims about immigrant crimes, which are not supported by statistics.

The immigration debate is complex and needs (and has long needed) a lot more attention from politicians on both sides of the aisle, but broadly proclaiming "immigrants cause crime" is a red herring.

I think we should keep in mind that Cato is a group that is always pro-migration (legal and illegal)

But when viewing these data points we need to keep some facts in mind.

1. America does have a very high crime rate underclass. We all know this and we can all debate its origin and how to fix it. But its existence skews the data with comparing it to new arrivals.

2. The data does remind us that legal immigrants (the ones we want) have a far less crime rate than illegal immigrants.

Which is kind of the point....

[Legal immigrants have the lowest incarceration rate, at 303 per 100,000 legal immigrants in 2024. Illegal immigrants have an incarceration rate of 674 per 100,000 illegal immigrants...]

Illegals are literally more than double the incarceration rate of legal immigrants. And that is probably an undercount since its so hard to find, locate, and prosecute illegals in the country without authorization and paperwork.

This feels like you are purposefully missing/leaving out the broader point, regardless of legal immigration status, the incarceration rate is materially lower than native born Americans. Therefore, the assertion that the waive of new illegal immigrants under Biden led to a crime waive is unsupported by facts (and your point 1 further points this out, even if unintentionally). If there were a massive waive of illegal immigrants committing violent crime, regardless of immigration status, regular police work would still find these perpetrators, no? Or there would be a great swathe of unsolved crimes that the statistics themselves don't support.

Your 2nd point is a bit ironic given the topic of this thread (or at least what it has devolved into), since multiple posters are, or appear to be, just as put off my legal immigrants as the illegal ones.

I agree that since the USA already has a violent crime rate higher than other developed nations... that this is not more than the native rate but its not necessarily a great rate in and of itself.

That does not mean its low....something to take into consideration.

Lets compare Illegal immigrant incarceration rate (674 per 100,000) to other developed nations.

"Japan's incarceration rate is approximately 33 per 100,000 of the national population"

"Denmark's incarceration rate is 70 per 100,000 residents"

"Ireland's current prison population rate is approximately 100 per 100,000 of the national population"

That illegal immigrant rate is not great.....

More misstatements and deception.

I never said "immigrants cause crime". I said illegal aliens are criminals, an obvious fact by definition, and that they often commit more crimes.

Crime did increase significantly under Biden. The Democrat crime wave was real. As I mentioned before, the Dems and "their defund the police" obsession along with Dem DA's who refused to prosecute contributed dramatically to the increase.

You talk mostly in generalities while repeating Leftist propaganda. I cited specific issues. Crime victims are not about "feelings", they are real people who suffered horribly an unnecessarily because the fascists are pro-crime.
