Why do you believe that porn does not objectify the person in the images?

Does the viewer not treat them as an object for their use?

Is a man staring too long (with lustful thoughts) at a woman with a low cut skit objectifying her?

Porn is nothing to play with. It is one of the enemies many weapons used today to introduce sexual immorality and a warped concept of intimacy into the minds of young people. Sex outside of God's design leads to chaos and destruction.
I don't buy that. You can believe such things, just don't ask the state to enforce them, please.

Right like abortion, no fault divorce, homosexual and transgender acceptance, suppression of research into pornography, etc. Oh wait you were fine with the state enforcing all those things on the rest of us.

No, I was fine with the state granting freedom to those people. State suppression of porn research? Link, please, can't wait.

Those so called freedoms come at the expense of others freedoms. And read Libido Dominandi for your edification on porn research. These are all state imposed and enforced but because you like them you will pretend they are not.

Wouldn't it mask a more deeper problem? I don't know. That answer varies from couple to couple.

Would Jesus approve of self-abuse? Masturbation is self abuse? I don't think so.

It is not your job, BaylorFTW, to decide whether or not I should own guns, whether my wife can have an abortion, or whether or not I can watch porn. The law of the land says all three are legal. We have one Judge, and you are not Him.
Why is watching porn so important to you? This isn't a freedoms issue. This is a public health hazard issue. Do you really think that God would be supporting ubiquitous porn that is encouraging adultery in your heart by lusting after women (or men) on a computer screen?

And with regard to abortion, some judges took away the voice of the people to make that change. The people didn't want abortion at that time. Such a change should have been left up to the people.

It is clear there are problems caused by pornography. At the very least, I don't see any reason why this subject shouldn't be researched further to find out the extent of them. We research every other issue except this one.
Whether or not John Q. Public is watching porn is the very least of our problems. The dishonesty, debauchery, and influence peddling that has gone on in Washington, D.C. is sickening!!!! Let's fix that first and then we'll work on porn.

Not sure I agree with you my friend .

Yes, he desires for married couples (man and woman) to experience sexual pleasure ordered to the good.

He designed it to be pleasurable so that we would create more human.

Please answer my question in a direct manner... Does Jesus care if one looks at porn?

I'm more for your Catholic Church getting the child molesting under control before we move on to legislating what adults do in their own home.

I also wonder how many people on this thread are obese that are condemning porn. Should we legislate buffets and sugar? That is a much larger health/society crisis.

Porn can be misused, like anything else. Highly doubt the 88% #, 1st off how could anyone have the time/resources to watch enough porn to come up with that number given rise in amateur stuff as we all have high definition cameras in our pockets. The amount is literally endless. Porn is also only industry I am aware of that women make more than men. That stat seems like a handpicked "outrage" stat from our resident professional rage machine poster, Baylorftw.

The two things are linked as they are a part of the sexual liberation movement. That being said, the Catholic Church still has rates that are less than what you would find at a public institution and they are doing things to address the issue although I wish they would have cleaned house.

Only a fool would think that watching porn doesn't spill over to the rest of life and have an impact on society as a whole. And remember we aren't just talking about adults here.

How do you know it is a much larger health/society crisis? If the research isn't even allowed to take place, by what objective basis are you making this determination about the health and societal costs of porn?

And why should only certain people be able to speak out about porn? We live in a community together. This is as insane as women saying men have no say in abortion or that women should have no say in deciding if we go to war because only men are drafted.

Women routinely make more money than men in the modeling field. I also wouldn't be shocked if women make more money in sales than men as they make better salespeople.

It is interesting that when research is provided that contradicts your viewpoint, you can't accept the possibility that it could be true. Worse, you are afraid to support research that would determine the truth. It seems like you are merely trying to rationalize your sin rather than look at this issue objectively.

I'll address that this Tu Quoque fallacy and I'll assume that you do not hold some type of grudge against the Church other than ignorance of the situation.

I'd suggest that you do some research into current stats in this regard. The Church today has lower rates than teachers, police departments and other professions. The accusations that are discussed today happened mostly pre-2002 before sweeping changes and programs instituted. All cases should be fully investigated and any person that committed these crimes and persons that covered it up should be removed immediately from their position.

Many organizations around the world have investigated what the Church has done to help prevent the abuse in the last ten + years.

I don't perceive Prairie Bear as being pro-porn. I think like most Americans, including myself, he just wants the government to stay the Hell out of our bedrooms and personal lives as much as possible. You cannot legislate morality.

No offense to Rep. Powell, but I think legislation should be introduced declaring politicians a public health hazard.

Of course you can legislate morality. We do it all the time. The real issue is with enforcement and not legislation and whether the government is willing to push enforcement of unpopular laws. But even there it can be done.

And once again, ubiquitous porn is not a freedoms issue it is a public health hazard issue.
