Was at the Live Oak (San Antonio) HEB this afternoon and they had plenty of food on the shelves! Plenty of chicken, steaks, pork, and ground beef. Perhaps the hoarding is subsiding. Life is good!
In a market you assume buyers and sellers will act rationally. When they do supply meets demand at a reasonable price. Irrational hoarding disrupted supply. It's like the grocers have been saying: just buy what you need and we'll truck in new supplies regularly.

If you don't hoard, it means more trips to the grocery store and more possible exposure to the virus. Can't blame shoppers for getting enough for three weeks instead of one. C
Good for you. Not so good for the folks who have to go every day to find what is no longer in stock thanks to hoarding.

Good for me is that we killed hogs and deer this year and have a full freezer.

And I bought a twelve-pack of TP in January that has another 90 days of use.

What a b****.

A grocery store in northeastern Pennsylvania had to throw away an estimated $35,000-worth of products after a woman went through the store coughing on food in what the store's co-owner called a "twisted prank."

Just as there should be individual states rights, there should also be municipalities rights, to govern their local city as they wish if they can see there is a grave risk, especially since they want to shelter in place.

He may be a fine man, and has done well as a Governor, but there are times that municipalities must make their own calls without fear of being overruled.

I saw where they had said a couple of days ago that they had some new cases. This was a day or two after they had reported they had no new cases. So no they have not stopped it they arent even claiming they have at this point, but they are putting the rosiest of pictures on the situation there that they can get away with no doubt.

If you are in Mississippi and the local governments do not stick to their guns, you are in trouble. Louisiana is headed toward being a mess, partcularly New Orleans.

BTW the Governor of Ohio has done an excellent job. He locked his state down early, like on March 14th. He was one of the first ones. For a rather large state, they have lower infection number based on the site that LT gave out which is really good. Montgomery County (Dayton) for example is about 3 times the size of McLennan County. Yet they have half the number of confirmed cases McLennan County does for example.

Well the Executive Order for Tarrant County City of Fort Worth, the order to shelter in place came from Judge B. Glen Whitley. The one for Dallas, Tx. came from a Dallas County judge.

Just build a wall along the Mississippi so the virus stops invading Mississippi . This virus pattern is now easily traced. From China to Seattle area. Large outbreak. Then NYC with its horrific melting pot of population and their relatives flying in every day since the day the original outbreak was traced to WuHan. Then Mardi Gras and all those folks from NYC area and Seattle area coming to Louisiana to rub shoulders along parade routes for two weeks. Same for Florida. Daily arrival of flights packed with snowbirds.

The high temperatures in the rest of the south will kill the virus.

Recalling my being a parent when the polio epidemic broke out i'd consider that a virus too and it was blazing hot in the summer when we faced closing public swimming pools.

Jonas Salk was the hero of the day. BTW, I just recently read he never patented his vaccine. True hero.

I don't know how many on here knew how crippling the polio disease was but those of us with children were in full panic mode, but we still went to work.

Here is an interesting statistic: percentage of total deaths to total resolved cases.

1209 deaths + 681 recoveries = 1890 total resolved cases

1209 deaths / 1890 resolved cases = 64%

I don't believe any country so far has had that high of a percentage of deaths to resolved cases. Not even Italy. Once you get the virus, there are only two possible results, recovery or death.

Fauci has actually recently expressed concern in an interview (I don't recall which) that it may not die down too much because it appears to be spreading in the southern hemisphere where temperatures are warmer i.e. in Australia, and in Africa

I probably should have added the word 'much' to the end of my sentence above.

COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in areas with hot and humid climates
From the evidence so far, the COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including areas with hot and humid weather. Regardless of climate, adopt protective measures if you live in, or travel to an area reporting COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 is by frequently cleaning your hands. By doing this you eliminate viruses that may be on your hands and avoid infection that could occur by then touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
