The weight of evidence so far is against him.

What should not weigh in the balance at all is a desire to make this a political point with which to punish China.
You think China has clean hands?
In regard to what?

If you mean "Did China create the coronavirus in a lab?" then the evidence so far says their hands are clean. Keeping misinformation in play without better proof just for political points is counter-productive.

Not so much if you are referring to their handling of the flow of information. That was predicated on politics and is a valid tool against them.

But at this point in the thread we are talking about the creation of the virus.

Wet market or inadvertent release from a lab.... China unleashed the C-19 virus resulting in the deaths of thousands of people and catastrophic economic damage throughout the world .

There is no point wasting resources in 'punishing' China as it is not possible or practical to do so .

But acknowledging China's culpability isn't wrong either .
Sure, but let's get the accusation right. If we charge them with creating the virus then there is genetic proof that such charge is inaccurate and they get off the hook.

** sigh **

We know China manipulated data at the very least. That gives reason to be suspicious about the creation of the virus as well.

Personally, I believe the outbreak was accidental and most likely caused by the wet market. That's consistent with past outbreaks from China. But I certainly think any and all statements from the PRC should be scrutinized with skepticism and a demand for proof.

By the way, you should hear what's being said in Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan. Nothing Trump has said is remotely as angry as the noise from those countries.
Like I said. Clean hands on origin, unclean on info.

If I punch you in the face and you charge me with burglary I walk.

What if it turns out you punched me in the face, in my living room after breaking in and trying to steal my TV?

Let's see what happens when all the facts are known. No reason to give China a pass on anything.

As long as evidence doesn't matter let's blame China for all our ills. The important thing politically is that nobody on our side be held accountable.

Dozens Dead After Lockdown Measures Delayed Their Heart Surgeries; Health Official: 'Certainly Was Not Intended'

Tens of thousands of medical procedures have been postponed in Ontario, Canada, anticipating a novel coronavirus patient surge that has yet to come, a report from the independent Financial Accountability Office (FAO) found late last month.

Delayed heart surgeries, for example, have already resulted in around 35 deaths, a University Health Network (UHN) report states

So, her response is basically, yes we were all wrong. But nobody, not the press, and not our administration will ever admit it. So pointing out the presses equal hypocrisy seems to give her the higher ground. What a world we are living in.

Reading through this thread has one good post a day. And that's ATL's daily Covid numbers update. Everything else is from bickering idiots pointing fingers.

Americans are so blind with political hatred that they fail to realize this is a worldwide pandemic with similarities across every country infected. But for some reason we think that there are explanations for infections, and cures, that are unique only to Americans. Such a narrow, selfish view that only we Americans (or we Republicans, we Democrats) have the answers, and everyone else is out to get us.

Some are arguing that an anti-biotic is the cure-all for the virus, but the anti-viral proposed is being pushed for profits.

It's not only on this board, but I see it in family and friends as well...the idiocracy has taken hold.

Bringing abortion into conversations that have nothing to do with abortion is the religious right's go-to strategy for shutting down conversations they don't want to have and skirting issues they don't want to confront.

The abortion conversation is certainly one worth having. I personally would argue both parties' approach to the issue is wrong-headed. But interjecting abortion into unrelated conversations is a lame deflection that serves no productive purpose.
