Will the Republic States maintain a 'No Fly Zone' between the East and West coasts? If so I'm going to find out if Jane Fonda's flak gun is for sale on the internet>
The New Green Deal phases out airplanes, just like oil & gas. They will not have airplanes. They will all be driving horse and buggies. The dream was to have electric charging stations on every block. Instead, they will have feed and watering stations.
I read a study completed by an electrical engineer in California, who ran the numbers for a proposed truck stop style recharging station which would recharge cars in approximately the same time as cars are currently refueled.
This single recharging station would consume approximately 25% of California's current power grid supply. Compounding the supply issue is the decision to reduced the number of natural gas powered generators and a growing reliance on wind and solar generated power.
Fanciful thinking always has a day of reckoning with the realities of logistics.
Interesting. Do you have a source for the study?
Unfortunately I do not. I will attempt a search on the subject and get back to you if I get results. This is a subject which deserves duplicate research before we make a national commitment to electric vehicles on a grand scale.
The market will decide, and the market is gradually embracing renewables. The cost of onshore wind generated electricity is at $0.06, solar is down to $.10 per kwh. Storage is getting cheaper. Private companies are investing in distribution. California needs market reform, not more regulation.
