A ridiculous thread, ridiculous statement.

You've drank the koolaid. Trump has convinced you that without him, you'll lose everything. The GOP has convinced you that without them, you'll lose everything. Democrats have convinced liberals that without them, they'll lose everything.

The only bad thing happening here is that people are constantly looking at half the country and thinking "you're an idiot." MSM isn't guilty of all the ridiculous things Trumpers say it is, but it is certainly guilty of needing viewers (money) to stay in business. Everyone's MSM (brainwashing channel) of choice has them thinking it's us or them. One of us is going down.

We are so much better united, than divided. You don't have to spend the next 4 years like the Dems just did under Trump; constantly whinging about their lot in life. You can be a positive influence on society.

And one more thing, now that my big sermon is over, Biden is far from socialist. Even if Bernie had won, we wouldn't turn socialist at all. With Biden, and no Democrat control over the Senate, nothing is going to get done the next 2 years, and imo that's a good thing.

No, it's not. Look at a map and tell me how you'd even make that division? Those divisions are within states, not between them, counties apart from each other. And more importantly, collapsing all American opinion into 2 classes is stupid. We vote that way because that's the (realistic) choices we have - we HAVE to select one of two options. That doesn't mean there's Group A who all think this way about everything and Group B who all think a different way about everything. We agree on much much more than we disagree on, and the only place that isn't true is in the extremists on either end.
You know I love you man, but I respectfully disagree.

As recently as the late 1990s, there were very subtle difference between Democrats and Republicans. That is no longer the case. A little more than half the country has just voted for higher taxes, more lockdowns (less freedom), the elimination of fossil fuels and all the jobs that go with them, a desire to pack the Supreme Court, and provide free healthcare for illegal immigrants. I am not on board with any of this.

One very troubling phenomenon is all of the Americans that are fleeing problems in Democrat run states to live in the South to make a better life. I fear that most end up bringing their politics with them and will eventually transform their new home into the quagmire they were fleeing. We shall see.

Would love to somehow see a third party take hold but am not sure that will happen in my lifetime.

I don't think so. Just look at the voting trends, and who is moving into the state. It will be hard for R's to hold on, unless they can find a way to appeal to the growing Hispanic population. R's had a real concern that the house would flip this time, which it didn't. This has been a real concern within the Party for several years now. We lost nine seats in 2018. We held them off this time, but we didn't gain those nine back.

This is rational, but it's not where the future is headed my friend.

The division we have now will shrink because one side will eventually dominate. It will be mostly socialists and the opposition to it will be small.

It will be unification for socialism when Millennials and Gen Z are in their 40's and 50's. Call it democracy...but it won't be pretty.

Question to the Liberal cohort:
Which of you had Wednesday 7pm for the first secession thread? I think I had Tuesday at 9. Anyone closer?

Seriously, the numbers are not in, and your guy could still be reelected, Arizona is breaking his way (great call Fox!). At this point, he is still up 111k in PA....y'all are keeping the Senate, you damn well nearly took back the House--all this, after your guy ran the worst race in Presidential History (I mean, he's losing to Joe Biden, thats got to sting).

Seriously folks, more people voted for President than ever before-- the highest percentage of eligible voters in 120 years. I've been thinking this for a week now. Whoever wins, the people have spoken.

If Biden wins, forget any major initiatives, as he has to get the Republicans to go along. Hopefully some stimulus money, infrastructure money to repair our roads and bridges which are in horrendous--third world level--condition. Even a tax hike on the wealthy will be difficult to get through the Senate. Concerns of the rise of the proletariat are premature.

I agree with two big parts of this post:
1) partisanship and the tendency of both parties to cluster more towards the extreme end of a spectrum is higher than ever, and
2) we need more than a two party system

I think those are related. By collapsing all choices into two parties, those parties can build fanatical, high-turnout bases by moving towards the extreme of a spectrum, and still capture the majority more moderate middle of america because, again, we only have two options. Unfortunately changing the two party system won't happen until we change our first past the post voting scheme.

SCOTUS was actually my #1 priority when I held my nose and voted for Trump in 2016. Have to say, he delivered spectacularly in all his court appointments. This remains the main reason I hate to think what Biden will do to counteract that. Dare we hope that the Senate blocks all regressive nominees for 4-8 years? Doesn't matter that Biden is not Bernie if the rest of the left's apparatchiks have their way.
The far left doesn't control the Democratic Party. If they did, Biden wouldn't be the nominee.

Biden won't serve out even half of his term. There isn't a single DC insider that doesn't suspect this.

Bernie was unelectable in the general and Harris couldn't even get 20% of the Dem vote in the primaries.

Biden was the agreed upon patsy and Harris will be placed in power through the VP slot .

This is how it goes down after Biden insemination (inauguration). Pelosi, Harris and the dems discuss the pregnancy and how they feel about it. After about 6 months they abort the Biden baby. Harris moves on to a better job and nicer living quarters. This is why the Dems like abortion, it destroys anything the male in the relationship wants/desires/needs and promotes everything about the females desires/wants.

Pelosi may not be the Speaker. This election was a disaster for her

Edit for spelling
Fingers crossed

Bull

Biden won't serve out even half of his term. There isn't a single DC insider that doesn't suspect this.

Bernie was unelectable in the general and Harris couldn't even get 20% of the Dem vote in the primaries.

Biden was the agreed upon patsy and Harris will be placed in power through the VP slot .

I don't think Bernie would have agreed that he was unelectable, or spend the effort of going through the primaries just to be a patsy. You've been listening to too many conspiracy theories.

Is it time for us to seriously have this discussion? Yes, it is time. We no longer have that much in common. Let's have a peaceful and amicable divorce. Go our separate ways. It is time.
No, it isn't time

It is time to lessen the rhetoric. E pluribus unum, under God
I think that was tried in 1861 and it didn't work out so well.
