Baylor (3-0) will host No. 14 Iowa State (2-1) at McLane Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the first Big 12 home game for the Bears in 2021.

Articles: Baylor vs. Iowa State

Quote of the week...

Dave Aranda: “Within the football phase of it, it allows you to play complimentary football, get the run establish, to have a play action pass that looks like it and put people in conflict, and gives you the ability to play all four downs, because you're talking about fourth and one and a fourth and two, as opposed to a third and 13. It just gives you a more balanced, comprehensive approach to things. But seeing the confidence in the guys, the offensive line, and tight ends for that matter, they've continued to improve as well, just blocking. Long ways to go, but like what we've done so far.

Craig Smoak’s Players to Watch

Iowa State — Running Back Breece Hall

ISU’s biggest offensive threat, period. Hall has a touchdown in all three games this season and averages around 100 all-purpose yards rushing and receiving, which has been a slow start for the ISU offense before last Saturday. But, as Baylor learned the hard way last year, Hall’s capable of a whole lot more. The x-factor of the Cyclones offense, his performance, will play a decisive role in Saturday’s outcome.

Baylor — STAR Jalen Pitre

Like Iowa State, Baylor has its fair share of playmakers on defense. Pitre and Terrel Bernard are the standards in Waco. We know both will factor in heavily on Saturday, but I think Pitre’s versatility and nose for the football is something that could tilt the result in Baylor’s favor, akin to Mike Rose for the visitors. Pitre’s first career interception, also his first career pick-six, came against Brock Purdy and the Cyclones a year ago.

Bears pass the gut check!

Vitek's should give the whole team NIL gifts of free gut packs for a year!

Ebner was outstanding, however, I would ask Ebner to share the game ball with the punter who changed the field position in a massive way!

The 4 shakey's commericals they play in a row at each break on the Fox Sports Stream is so annoying... you can't tell me there isn't another sponsor of some kind you can run and if not... yikes.

Whatever happened to Bohannon in the second half is concerning. They figure that out and this team will be something special.

I know Gerry was feeling the heat of a collapsing pocket in the second half like he has not experienced before. it got a little ugly… But it has to be good experience for him.

Agree…. I don't want to nitpick an upset win. There will be plenty on the tape for the coaches to correct…but a W is all that matters at this stage of our rebuild.

4-0 baby

Seems like it. Learn and move on. I think some of the play calling got a little conservative too towards the end. Thankfully this is one of the best defenses we'll face all year.

Great and a potentially program-building win. Sic 'Em!

Shout out to our punter Issac Power 56.3 yards a punt. Special teams really made a difference.

Auburn down 24-19 to Georgia state with 1:19 left. Auburn has the ball at the Ga St 10

This will be in the top 2-3 defensive lines we face all year. I expect Gerry to learn from that second half and get better.

Power and Ebner were our MVPs today. In fact, special teams in general were fantastic.

I think we got really conservative on offense after that fumble to start the second half, so he was facing lots of third-and-long situations.

And Iowa State has an outstanding second-half defense.

Bohanon will be fine.

Yea we shot ourselves in the foot several times this game. That 2nd hand fumble was a chance to put things away. Momentum definitely swung on that drive

Yeah ISU has had a great second half defense so it was expected. There was some play calling I didn't agree with though but they were play calls that have worked before so I understand why they tried it. It was a great learning experience for Bohanon that luckily didn't cost the game.

It should be co-POW between Ebner and Power. Power was that good today.

ISU has had every call today.

The sideline interference call against ISU was God awful. A ridiculous call by a LJ simply Bc he didn't know where he was. As Campbell said, "that's f****** bs". He was right.

Iowa st got a very friendly whistle, no doubt

The holding call at the end of the half that negated a first down and potential points for Baylor kept the game close
