Amazingly if you look online, UNC fans and some others think the refs were making calls in our favor. Insanity. All that aside- I absolutely hate that we lost, but I'm glad we fought with everything we had. We have nothing to be ashamed of.

Flagler as well. Zack L puts on some muscle and can get his feet to move a little quicker would be huge.

To play so great to tie it up and go into OT, and then to spaz out with bad overall decisions from fouls to bad shots in the OT, is unfortunate.

Tha patience we showed at the end to work for the best shot and get to OT, that disappeared in OT. We hit panic mode. Akinjo using precious seconds dribbling and then end up with nada. Butter fingers with rebounds. Needless fouls.

And we are going to have a lot of great players. All of the returning players, especially Bonner, will be much better. It will be lots of fun watching them play with Love, George, Cryer, and Everyday Jon in the lineup.
I don't expect JTT back next year, but if one of Brown/Sochan came back, we'd be extra salty. I don't think that's gonna happen though. Gonna need to work the transfer portal.
Why wouldn't Everyday Jon come back? He's a great player & has NBA potential, but probably not yet.
I agree about the freshmen: having either return would be wondrous. However, I've resigned myself to the fact that neither is likely to return. And I don't blame them: if they are first rounders, they should go.

I HATE people who blame the referees when a team loses. But how do you give a guy 3 free throws on a ticky tack hand check on an off-balance shot with 2 on the shot clock? And why doesn't the video review of calls not in the last 2 minutes of regulation not carry into OT?

I won't say that we deserved to win this game and UNC didn't. But these are really important calls that a crew must get correct. That video review rule must change to include all of OT. That's a more critical time than even regulation.

Not just UNC. Narrative from average posters are refs saved us. Whatever.

I also don't understand why they could not review that one late call & give the UNC player the obvious foul which also would have given us 3 free throws. That could have changed the entire dynamic of OT.

That said, however, I did notice that although we were able to tie it up a few times in the end, we were always in catch up mode. We never could take the lead. That was troubling.

I don't think he'll have healed in time. Those things can take 12 months. Do we want him to just show up for the last two weeks of the regular season?

Maybe he'll get better quicker, but it would be a stretch to see him ready to go at the beginning of the season.

I'll be interested to see if Zack 1. Doesn't transfer and 2. Becomes an integral part of the team.

That makes sense. I had forgotten that this had been discussed before. Thanks for the clarification.

No doubt in my mind we win this in OT if we could have just gotten Bacot that last foul.
I think you mean just gotten the refs to call a fifth foul on Bacot. He committed a lot more than 5 fouls.

Just like we need terms limits from Politicians, we need the same thing for Refs. Some of these guys just can't keep up with the pace of the game.

Which is why I said and some others. It's whatever though, I'm tired. I'm just going to turn off all social media at this point for a few days. The amount of trolls on the Baylor MBB and our players social media is actually disgusting. I think at the end of the day people forget that these are kids/young men. I wonder a lot of the time how they handle they amount of hateful and racist comments they get. If anyone doubts me just looks at Jeremy's Instagram.

I've seen it. I was horrified. Thankfully I think our players are surrounded by enough love to deal with whatever is thrown at them.

I don't think that was a foul, just good defense by the North Carolina player

By the definition of the rule it was a foul. Did it impact his shot? Doubtful.

Bacot did the vast majority of his damage once we went small. He was shooting under 50 percent from the field with like seven points when going head to head with Flo.

Their guards and Manek beat us. We couldn't defend the 3 in the halfcourt.

Akinjo shouldn't have even been near that guy. The shot clock was expiring and he had no chance of getting that shot to go the way his feet were set/not set. Just let him have it and rebound.

This was not one of James' better games. He had some key plays that aided our comeback, but he tried to do way too much on offense. You could tell he was frustrated by his inability to penetrate/get to his spots.

Just looking at the last couple of pages so sorry if already posted....but will I ever see another situation where a team commits an offensive foul and ends up getting 5 points on that possession? When that happened I knew things weren't going to go our way.

And, I agree with a previous poster. The review of out of bounds should cover all of overtime. After all, it is just an extension of the game from the final two minutes of the game. That out of bounds that gave UNC the ball with us just behind by two was a killer. It was obvious to me that Flagler did not touch the ball. And had it been 3 seconds later, it would have been reviewed.

And, after this game, even had we won, as to what condition we would be in for next week. Injuries are part of the game. If you average this year and last, we probably would be average. Guess this season is the price we paid so to speak for having the luck we had last year in injuries not being a factor. Hope the bad luck ends here and next year is "normal".

Heck he'd have found out by middle of 2nd half if refs hadn't swallowed the whistle 1st half.

This is the most succinct description of what I saw at the game. With all the focus on UNC's size, ironically we got beat by the shortest player on their team. Well, him and the mop headed transfer kid from OU.

This will always be the season of What Could Have Been. It was so gutwrenching that I didn't even want to stay for the KU-Creighton game.

No concerns from this camp if Akinjo decides to move on to his 4th program, in 4 years, next season.

in fairness, the same was true in the second half of Mayer. He could have had about 10 fouls called.

The refs protected both of those guys, and the game was better for it.

I'll be curious to see how UNC does from here. They had that great win on the road over Duke, destroyed Marquette, and then beat us.

Yeah, but in that mix they also got beat by double digits against Virginia Tech. Those same players that beat us with 3's went 3-26 from 3 against VT. Our lack of halfcourt D made them look like superstars. UNC is far from invincible. They got taken to the woodshed numerous times this year. Very inconsistent.

The way I would describe it is that North Carolina was seeded correctly according to resume but dramatically underseeded according to potential. Their ceiling was by far the highest of those on the 8/9 line, but they played at fftheir floor enough times to earn an 8.

Manek was MURDERING Flo on the roll. He just isn't athletic enough to close that out. I 100% believe if we have JTT, he sticks to Manek like glue and we run these guys out if the gym
