Ridge Point DL DK Kalu commits to Baylor over TCU, Kansas State and Iowa State

Baylor has landed a commitment from Missouri City (TX) Ridge Point High School defensive lineman DK Kalu‍. He becomes commit No. 20 in the 2023 class and the third defensive lineman joining Trent Thomas‍ and Jaren Woods‍.

BAYLOR 2023 RECRUITING CLASS COMMITMENT LIST

“Ever since I went to the camp last year and the unofficial visit the following week it felt like home,” he said. “The family culture while also performing at a really high level stood out to me.”

The 6-foot-3, 275-pound nose tackle prospect tore his MCL early on in the season so he missed majority of his junior season. He was a unanimous first-team all-district selection as a sophomore.

He chose Baylor over offers from TCU, Kansas State, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Houston and SMU among others.

His father, ND Kalu, was a badass at Rice and did well in the NFL too.

Aranda knows games are won in the trenches on both sides of the ball and it's good to see us landing some quality linemen. I'm sure they'll probably have this kid add at least another 25 pounds or more after he gets to campus & it appears he has the frame to do it.

It does not seem like ND Kalu played long enough ago to have a son this old, but I guess my memory is failing me. And I probably do not want to accept how much time has passed.
