One of the top offensive linemen in the country out of the 2016 class, Willie Allen (New Orleans, LA/John Curtis) is currently on an official visit to Baylor after recently announcing his decision to tranfer away from LSU.
The 6-foot-7, 320-pound tackle, who also took an official visit to UCLA earlier this week, held an offer from Baylor out of high school as the No. 174-ranked prospect in the country according to the industry average. He also held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas and Texas A&M.
After redshirting his freshman season at LSU, Allen will be required to sit out this fall and and have three years of eligibility remaining.
Allen was prevented from transferring to any programs within the SEC as well as TCU. The Horned Frogs were considered the No. 2 team in Allen's recruitment out of high school.
The addition of Allen would be a big one for the Bears on the offensive line. Though he would not be eligible for competion until the 2018 season, Allen would bolster the depth immediately for practice this fall before eventually competing for a starting position as a redshirt sophomore.
Baylor's 2017 roster will consist of three seniors, four juniors, and six true freshmen offensive linemen. One of those four juniors, Josh Malin, converted to the offensive line after injuries and departures in the spring.
