Baylor Should Keep Scheduling Texas in Basketball

With the final Baylor vs. Texas football game for a while — and as crazy as it seems, maybe ever — I wondered, “Will Baylor and Texas play in basketball again after Texas exists for the SEC?”

The two should play. Baylor’s basketball program remains in phenomenal shape. If anything, the new Big 12 is a much better basketball league with Arizona and Houston compared to Texas and Oklahoma, to say nothing of the other departing schools.

I believe Baylor-Texas is the most played opponent for both schools. Definitely should keep playing each other.

90 miles away and a long history. We should jeep scheduling UT in everything.

I tend to agree. Doubt it will happen in FB, as the SEC method is to play cupcakes in nonconference. I would be happy to see them play in basketball, maybe Aggie as well?

They always play one real opponent in non conference. If does not mean it will necessarily be competitive. Aggies lost to Miami, not exactly a power in the ACC, Bama has WVU & the Pokes on future schedules. To their credit, the Aggies did play Clemson a few years ago.

Y'all must have forgotten what the cows did to us during the Briles scandal. Continuous feeding the media of info, mostly untruths about Baylor and our scandal. A couple of "women" wrote the ESPN Outside the Lines episode about Briles. They led the way to reduce or eliminate our Big 12 distribution. They tried to get us voted out of the Big 12. And more.

And why did they do all of this? Because we beat them.

We should have nothing to do with them ever again!

Look, I'm just saying we could play them every once in a while, not invite them over for Sunday Dinner...
Just the economics of playing historic rivals, and the added attendance and possible national coverage is worth putting up with a minimal amount of UT arrogance or Aggie insanity.

Also, it would be great to beat them again a few times.

And in my opinion, they should never be allowed on our campus again.

Absolutely not.

Don't need to. Program is elite, Tex is not.

They are somebody we used to play. No more. No less. Play them - fine. Don't play them - fine. We have bigger goals and bigger teams to worry about.

I doubt Texas would agree to this, at least for many years. They don't consider Baylor a rival and it does not move the needle for them to get beat by a team 100 miles away from them. If they are going to play in state, I can see Houston or SMU or maybe Rice (easier win than UH but get Houston exposure). If they are going to take a chance with a good basketball program OOC, they'll be looking at UNC or MSU or UCLA - someone that gives them some umph and is worth the risk of the loss

Exactly. We are beyond that now. Regional opponents are nice but we already have that. Ku, Az, Hou will more than make up for anything Tex was bringing.

We are the far superior program and it will have no effect

I guess we could schedule them if we need am easy P4 win sometime.

I say no. They backed out of their chance to play us. I don't care to play them again.

If you think they're not gonna play us because they'll get beat, why on earth would they play Houston?

It's different than a rivalry. Our winning 3 FB conference titles since their last, a MBB natty since their never and 3 WB nattys since their last is quietly maddening to them. I live in Austin and have lots of orange friends. The fact that a smaller, private school up the road is doing this is embarrassing to them. They will never play us.
