Baylor Men's Basketball Announces Full 2023-24 Season Slate

WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball announced its full schedule on Tuesday, complete with 10 Power 6 programs visiting the Bears in Waco.

The Bears will open the 2023-24 season against the Auburn Tigers on Nov. 7, at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. The meeting in South Dakota will be the eighth between the two programs, with Baylor winning five of the seven previous matchups, including the last meeting, 84-72, on Jan. 30, 2021.

The final season at the Ferrell will open with Gardner-Webb in town on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m., followed by BU’s first-ever meeting with UMKC on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The week of Thanksgiving takes the Bears to the Big Apple, where they will compete in the NIT Season Tip-Off, opening against Oregon State on Wednesday, Nov. 22nd at 6 p.m. on ESPN2. The Bears will follow that up with a game against either Florida or Pitt on Friday, Nov. 24th. 

BU returns to Waco for a four-game homestand which includes Nicholls, on Nov. 28 and Northwestern State Saturday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m. The Seton Hall Pirates will come to Waco on Tuesday, Dec. 5, as a part of the Big East-Big 12 Battle, in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Bears return to the road for a pair of marquee non-conference matchups beginning with a neutral-site contest against Michigan State Dec. 16 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. The game will be televised on FOX. BU then heads back east to New York for a showdown at Madison Square Garden against Duke on Dec. 20. 

Baylor will then close down the Ferrell Center with a game against Mississippi Valley State on Dec. 22. The second-straight meeting with the Delta Devils will be a 6 p.m. tipoff and will be the final game before Christmas break.

A new year opens a new era as the Bears are slated to break in the brand-new Paul and Alejandra Foster Pavilion on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024 against the Cornell Big Red.

Conference play begins with a trip north of the Red River to battle Oklahoma State on Jan. 6, followed by a handful of firsts. BYU will play BU as Big 12 opponents for the first time in the first conference contest at Foster Pavilion on Tuesday, Jan. 9. The mini two-game homestand closes on Jan. 13 with Cincinnati’s first visit to Waco, in the first meeting between the two schools since 1946.

A two-game road swing opens on Tuesday, Jan. 16, with Baylor’s only regular-season meeting with the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, Kan. The Bears then return to the Lone Star State for the final Big 12 game in Austin against the Longhorns on Saturday, Jan. 20.

TCU will make its first trip to Foster Pavilion on Saturday, Jan. 27, ahead of the first-ever meeting between Baylor and UCF on Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Orlando.

February opens with Baylor’s only scheduled meeting with Iowa State, as the Cyclones make the trip to Waco on Saturday, Feb. 3. Former Baylor assistant coach Grant McCasland makes his return to campus on Tuesday, Feb. 6, as the head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The first of two meetings with the Kansas Jayhawks has the Bears in Lawrence, Kan., on Saturday, Feb. 10, before returning home to host the final Big 12 contest against the Oklahoma Sooners on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

BU will traverse the Big 12 footprint over its next two games, beginning with a Saturday, Feb. 17 showdown with West Virginia in Morgantown, W.V. The road swing will conclude in the mountain time zone with a Tuesday, Feb. 20, tip with BYU.

Houston will make its first trip to Waco since 1996 in the first Big 12 meeting between the former Southwest Conference foes on Saturday, Feb. 24. The first of two Saturday-Monday turnarounds takes Baylor up I-35 to close the season series with TCU on Feb. 26.

A critical final week of the season begins with Kansas at Foster Pavilion on Saturday, March 2, followed by the Texas Longhorns’ final Big 12 game in Waco on Monday, March 4.

The final road trip of the regular season has the Bears in Lubbock for a Saturday, March 9 tilt with Texas Tech.

The Big 12 Championship will be held March 13-16 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
