Five-Star Guard VJ Edgecombe Set For His Baylor Official Visit This Weekend
Baylor Men’s Basketball will host Long Island Lutheran (NY) five-star guard VJ Edgecombe on his official visit in Waco over the weekend. This will be the five-star prospects second official visit so far.
Baylor assistant coach Alvin Brooks went to see Edgecombe at his high school this past Tuesday ahead of his trip to Waco. The staff is clearly pushing to land the impact prospect and appear to be putting the full court press on leading into the visit.
The Baylor staff offered him following his strong performance at the Sportrader Showdown in Las Vegas this summer. The 6-foot-6 prospect averaged 23 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists during the event. He is the kind of player who fits what Baylor likes being a long, versatile wing who can really shoot the basketball.
Edgecombe took an official visit to Florida in September and has visits to Michigan (October 14th), Duke (October 21st), Alabama (November 4th), and Florida State (November 11th) scheduled. Kentucky recently offered so the Wildcats will likely try to secure an official visit as well.
Currently he is ranked as a five-star prospect and the No. 6 player in the 2024 class according to 247’s Composite Ranking. On3 has him as the No. 4 player in his class which is his highest national ranking.
The staff had five-star guard Tre Johnson on campus two weeks ago and will have another five-star guard on campus this weekend in Edgecombe. In theory it would be great to land both but with five-star wing Jason Asemota and four-star point guard Robert Wright in the class already this feels like an either/or type situation for Baylor. We will see who makes a decision first.
