When I rewatched the Texas game, during the first few minutes I thought, “Maybe I was too hard on RayJ Dennis’s defense on the podcast.”

Then I tuned into the rest of the game, and if anything, I think I maybe could have gone crazier.

Here are three areas the Bears must improve:

1) RayJ Denni’s Defense

Playing point guard for nearly the whole game takes up a lot of energy. Switching up a level from the MAC requires a lot.

Tyrese Hunter was on fire from deep in the 1st half, but really cold in the 2nd from outside, including airballing a couple of treys and even airballing a free throw.

After those really bad misses, Hunter smartly pump-fakes a corner three. Dennis bites hard and he flies right by. No one to help, so Hunter takes it to the hole and converts - and does that for the rest of the game. Key juncture not shown in the video clip.

We are amazingly slow in transition D, with RayJ leading the way. The only two with any quickness in terms of reacting are Nunn, who is fast but unfortunately out of control, and Missi, who is quick but out of position frequently just because he's so green.

I feel like we've actually improved to a degree with on ball D since conference play began.
