Why it's More than a Simple Fix for 2024 Baylor Basketball

While Baylor has been close in each of its last three games, the Bears lost all three. And the way Baylor lost each game highlights that this team may not be good enough to contend for a title.

Baylor being a Sweet 16 caliber team — if things break correctly — and not a team with Final Four potential is okay. Kansas appears to be in the same boat. Gonzaga appears worse than either Baylor or Kansas this year. Villanova is terrible for the second year in a row.

I said earlier in the year this team is frustrating to watch. Some knuckleheads could not handle the perceived negative (although accurate) take. I stand by that post 100%. This team is incredibly frustrating. So much ability and so little execution in key moments. They are in a position to win these last 3 games until they shoot themselves in the foot.

I agree with all of this analysis. We are good, not great. We could have won any of the last 3 losses but couldn't finish the job. We should be middle of the pack in the Big 12, make the NCAA tournament, and likely bounce the first weekend.

But unlike what I see in football. I am very hopeful for next season. Better years are coming.

It's always next season. Next year many of the starters will enter the portal or go on th=o the NBA. Its a revolving door. Now, you can't have the same team fo 4 years. I can see why NS retired from Alabama.

One other thought, ths team has gone down hill since Tang left....Tha's all I will say about that.

Yep. People said the exact same thing last year. And yet ... here we are, ready to flush this team for the next group of one-and-done saviors.

We're stuck on a treadmill right now. It's Groundhog Day.

I'm wondering if Tang brought much more to the table than met the eye. I have a feeling Tang brought a unique skill set of his own and when he left, so did the skill set. And it's possibly a skill set that Drew, national champion that he is, may not have.

Much of our problems come with a lack of confidence, probably fielding almost an entirely new group of starters who haven't formed as a cohesive unit, yet.

As much as I love Tang, he wouldn't do a whole lot to help this defense. We just don't have the personnel. And we didn't have the personnel last year. Was Tang a defensive guru or was it the personnel we had to work with at the time? If Teague, Butler, Davion, Vital, a healthy EJ,and Sochan suddently appeared on our roster no one would be questioning Drew's ability to coach defense.

Agreed. Lots of frustration watching the last 3 games (9 minute scoring drought down the stretch!) & I don't have much confidence going forward. In theory, we should be able to win tonight but UCF has a really hostile environment. I remember what happened to Kansas when they played there.

It might be a little of both. Going forward we are going to be cursed by the 2021 comparisons. It's inevitable & it's unrealistic. We will probably never have a comparable roster. It's likely no one will. Maybe we should like to 2019 or earlier for our roster comparisons.
