I'm not going to laud our defense too much..I will our rebounding and toughness.

TCU missed a LOT of open mid range shots.

The zone was very good at running them off the line, and forcing bad shots.

RayJ is so close to a triple-double and he may not get a single-double, haha. Tough break.

Tcu waited too long to start fouling

Maybe they won't

They didn't miss any bad shots..they missed millions of easy shots..as Mitch said they are terrible shooting.

Don't fall for fools gold.

Haven't watched a ton of TCU. But from what I e seen in their W's they've dominated in transition and inside. We kept them from both tonight. Props to Drew and Staff as well as the boys for executing.
Time to carry this momentum into Saturday's clash

I'm beginning to feel the vibes. Think it's safe to say tonight it is #20.

Goodness. Concentrate. Why are you so casual late. Focus. It's important to practice finishing clean even when up.

Are the benches practically on the floor? They just seem too close to me

Either way, big win. Need to get Love healthy and need to maintain our Ku home streak.

Hell of a win. Great second half after a sloppy first half.

When was the last time we held a b12 team to 54? 3 cheers for the zone

We held Houston to 28 in the second half on Saturday. When you make college players beat you with jump shots, good things happen in most cases.

Our issue all year has been giving up dunks and layups. I'll settle for forcing jump shots and give our team some credit when they do.

I've seen a few blowouts in the past few weeks. Not many but there were some. What Kansas did to Houston & what Tech did to Kansas are prominent examples. I'd like to see us get one or two of those. Maybe Saturday & Monday!!

Finishes with 9/9/9. A triple-single.

Pleased to see RayJ play this game with focus and determination, while also displaying the sort of leadership representative of excellent point guards. Glad to see his passes controlled and made with two hands.

While it would be nice to get the triple double, the main accomplishment is that he played a great, well rounded game. And we won. And he impressed the scouts.

I think BYU just made another layup on us

Yes! The zone tonight didn't allow many uncontested shots at the rim The help defense is so much better in the zone. No easy paths to the basket. Nobody gets lost. And although we had too many turnovers, I don't think TCU scored a single point off of them. Maybe a few late.

One of the things I like about Walter is he's got zero prima donna in him. No matter how things are going he keeps his motor running high. He never gives up on plays and is quick to dive to the floor. If we have a turnover on offense and the other team starts a break down the floor he busts his ass to the other end...even if it looks like he's out of the play.

Even when he's struggling with his offense he keeps playing full tilt and never pouts.

We are seeing more and more signs of the outside shot coming back too. Look out if that starts clicking again.

Really good road win and fun to watch what turned into a comfortable win which happens rarely on the road in the B12.

I agree. I just think that would have been a neat achievement for him if he had gotten it.

Btw Nunley just asked Drew was this their best defensive game.

He hesitated and said 'well...the results were..but they missed a lot of shots...'

Drew wasn't ready to laud this.

That's how you beat TCU.. at least this year. Make them a jump shooting team and they're rather mediocre. Let them get in the paint or out in transition and they can hang with anyone.
They definitely missed some shots that were open but I assume that's partly by design? Let them shoot jumpers instead of running lay up drills

This. TCU wasn't able to get out and run in either of their games against us. And tonight, they couldn't get the ball to their bigs in position to score or assist each other.

Did TCU miss some makeable shots? Sure. But we forced them to score in the halfcourt by taking away the transition game and took away the really easy stuff at the rim.

That's a win for this team defensively.

I think most of us understand our bar for defensive performance has been pretty low. It's OK to take improvement where it comes and be happy.

Yep ..we did keep them from layups and dunks..so I guess that's meeting the lowest of expectations..

What I'm getting at..and what Drew is saying..the ball got to the soft part of the zone too easy and we didn't react in time many times resulting in open easy shots..yeah our strategy was to make them shoot ..but from outside..they missed a ton of bunnies..but I'm happy..as Drew said..we got the results we needed bad

I didn't see a ton of missed bunnies. I saw a lot of missed jump shots. Bunnies are gimmes in the paint. We took those away.

I'm content to dare TCU to beat us from 15-25 feet. We did that tonight and they shot 33 percent from the field. We don't have to nitpick everything.

We went on the road and dominated a good team. It's OK to be happy.

That's good. Early season Drew typically defers credit to the other team (even if they didn't play all that well) and remains positive.

He's been a tougher critic lately as I'm sure he's tired of losing these games and sees what they can be. That's a great sign to me.

The blown kiss to the crowd after his 3 in the corner after his airball was delicious.

I need him to play with that swag for us to go far.

I need a little more Lace Dunn from him...and he's wayyyy more talented.

Yep Lace was a less talented assassin

Hopefully Walter can build on it

Great win. I leaned close loss in this one but didn't touch it. Glad to have been wrong. We needed it. We've been letting tcu hang with it beat us too much in the sports that matter. Need to keep 'em in their place

My nit pick was down the stretch we still let them kinda hang around and got stuck in about 62 points forever and just ran out the clock. Wish we could avoid that but at least we got the W
