Wright and Edgecombe are both freshmen, both trying to force things too much at times, but both seemingly great teammates and still learning. The only sign that is starting to worry me is that after 5 games VJ's shooting an atrocious 34% from the field and 23% from 3. We are not going to be a contender for the Big 12 title if that doesn't change over the course of the next few weeks. He's never been known as a great outside shooter but a lot of his misses are on wild, AAU running out of control to the rim and throwing up crazy shots hoping to draw a foul. You get those calls in AAU. You don't often get those calls in high level college games. I'm sure he is learning that and will adjust accordingly as we continue into the season. We aren't typically going to need him to carry the offensive load because we have Norchad and Roach, and then we have streaky guys like Nunn and Celestine (and Love, when fully healed) who will help be that 3rd scorer on a game to game basis. But we definitely need VJ's improvement to continue and need him on the court because his athleticism is unparalleled as long as it is too the betterment of the team and not to the detriment.

And, I agree with several other comments that I'm sure he was overly excited and pressured by the fact he was playing in front of friends and family so I expect to see a much better version of him tonight given that initial game experience last night.

We will be ok. These guys will learn to play together. We played a good team and lost in dblot. No reason to write of the season.

lol. I went to bed a minute too early. Its still mostly true. We won the game, didnt steal it. I see a lot of stuff on this team I like. I dont understand all the *****ing and moaning. We are very lucky to have a great coach. I have never coached beyond the high school level and dont go to all the practices, so I dont understand all his decisions. But I trust him to put us in a position to win.
I have found theres only two ways to go:
Living fast or dying slow.
I dont want to live forever.
But I will live while I'm here.

Still processing what I saw last night. Good thing I recorded the game and can watch the end of regulation and the OTs over and over because it's going to take awhile.

Roach is never in position to be the hero if he just makes his mundane free throws down the stretch…But I would never need to watch over and over and over to process that.

Roach acknowledged in his post game interview that after missing those two FTs he knew he owed the team something.

Give Roach credit for the game winner but Norchad Omier just played one of the most impressive games I've ever seen in a Baylor uniform. He literally was battling 3 bigs inside the entire game almost entirely by himself and just kept taking it at them time and time again and scoring. The start of the game was a little puzzling with him at the top of the key taking 3's but once he settled he basically just took over the game physically.

We could lose anyone else on the team and it would hurt us but if we lost Norchad the season would basically be over.

He was a man among boys in the paint. That dude is a load in the paint.
Showing age with this comment, but he reminds me of Wes Unseld.

My dad says the exact same thing! Admittedly Unseld was before my time but the old footage I've seen is very similar playing style to Norchad.
