It doesn’t take an expert to see that Baylor had a huge need at the “EDGE” position heading into 2025. 

It’s a position featured prominently in head coach Dave Aranda’s defense, and Baylor is losing its top two EDGE players from the 2024 squad, Steve Linton (6Sr.) and Garmon Randolph (6Sr.). Behind them, you have some young guys who haven’t played much. They’ll likely have a role in 2025, but you can’t yet rely on them to carry the burden.

When and why did we start calling defensive ends EDGE players. And why is it in all caps?

It's become a position of its own ..so it's capitalized like QB or WR .. lineman and linebackers convert to EDGE so it differentiates from them .

I know it's not an acronym like QB or WR but that's what I was told.
