Baylor Men’s Basketball dropped out of the USA Today Coaches poll one week after falling from the AP poll despite winning the lone game they played last week in controlling fashion.

By points, the Bears are the No. 29 team in the AP and the No. 27 team in the Coaches poll. No. 22/24 Dayton and No. 21/22 Memphis both jumped up from unranked to above the Bears knocking the Green and Gold clear out of both polls. The Tigers are riding high off an away win at then No. 16 Clemson while Dayton continues their impressive run of form adding a win over now No. 9 Marquette  to their resume of key wins that includes beating No. 11/13 UConn in Maui.

Baylor fans are likely to be miffed by Arkansas receiving more votes in the AP poll the their Bears despite the Bears’ superior metrics and head-to-head victory. Baylor’s victory over Norfolk State last Wednesday may not have been the most dominating — to contribute to the stagnant and/or dropping sentiment about Baylor — but Scott Drew’s squad have made it to a long break that they can use to get healthy. VJ Edgecombe returned from a hamstring issue for his electric put-back dunk against the Spartans while Jeremy Roach remained out with the concussion he picked up at UConn.

Elsewhere in the Big 12, Iowa State is up to No. 3 in both polls while Kansas gained a pair of spots in each to finish the week at No. 8 in each poll.

The Houston Cougars sat steady at No. 15 in the AP after a low key 1-0 week, though they did gain a spot in the Coaches poll moving up to No. 12.

Once again the Cincinnati Bearcats round out the Big 12 teams in the polls, coming in at No. 19/20 this week after beating crosstown arch-rival Xavier by three. That is a move up three spots in both polls.

Joining Baylor in receiving votes in both polls were the West Virginia Mountaineers. Oklahoma State and Arizona State received votes in the AP poll while Texas Tech received a few votes in the Coaches poll.
