Postgame Podcast & Thoughts: Arizona 81 Baylor 70

Positives

  • highly efficient offensive second half for the Bears- 51 points on 20-29 shooting; outscored Arizona by 12 but had too big of a mountain to climb
  • guards played well in the second half offensively, attacking with urgency but not settling for reckless abandon shots at the rim.
  • we should be at full strength for the TCU game

Concerns

  • Fifth game where we build an almost insurmountable deficit at half:  Gonzaga, St John’s, Tennessee, Iowa State and now Arizona.   St John’s we were able to mount a miraculous comeback but the other games, we could never get it close.
  • Still think the defense has made significant strides since Big12 play began but how do we allow Dell’Orso to get wide open looks at the basket?  A couple of kick outs for 3s but then 2 wide open looks (he went 3-4).
  • Offense needs refinement, perhaps it is mostly a lack of continuity.  Hopefully we can get a few wins playing together with our full complement of guys and then have an impressive road trip to Utah with our guys building chemistry.  We need to go undefeated at home.
