STILLWATER, Okla. – Baylor (2-2, 0-1) looks to bounce back in a road matchup against Oklahoma State (1-2). Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.

Really disappointing, if not altogether unexpected, start from a team that plays with zero urgency until its down two scores.

I think if we hired a good DC, we would be better than mediocre. We've seen what a difference-making coordinator can do with our offense. Go find a similarly talented DC to fix the defense.

Dave Aranda has proven he and his staff can recruit, and the culture he's built has allowed us to do a better job than most of retaining our talent. If we can fix the Xs and Os side with him on the sideline, it would be a better path forward than starting over with a new coach who would be far from a sure thing hire.


It is a risk - life is a risk. It was also a risk hiring a known quiet, slow thinking, analytical Coach. Bottom line, we have so much more to offer a prospective coach than we did in 1997

I think we have a lot of positive things going on in our program now that I'm not ready to throw out quite yet. I've been as hard on Dave Aranda as anyone here -- a lot about his coaching style drives me freaking nuts -- but this program is in a good place on the recruiting and talent retention fronts. And our offense and special teams are in a good place. Just fix the defense and we'll have a seven or eight win floor and be back to having a championship ceiling.

That's a big if. But I'm willing to take that risk.

Aranda will end his era here if he does not make a DC change. He has to feel that he is lucky Powledge hasn't gotten him fired after this season, unless he somehow he does cause that.

Dave is the defensive coordinator. Powledge is the safeties coach with a nice title.

Dave is the problem with the defense. He needs to fire himself.

I know he is hands on supervising Powledge but when I checks Polwdge is listed as DC. The current formula isn't working. He needs to be HC and turn over defense like he does the offense.

Yes we actually used a spy and still failed except for getting bailed out by refs
