An initial report from FootballScoop.com has been confirmed by SicEm365 of the hiring of Jeff Nixon from the San Francisco 49ers.

Nixon was in his first year as tight ends coach prior to being with the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles as running backs coach for the past nine years. Nixon coached All-Pro running backs Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy, as well as All-Pro full back Leonard Weaver.

As coach:
  • Penn State (1997) (Graduate assistant)
  • Princeton (1998) (Running backs)
  • Shippensburg (1999–2002) (Running backs)
  • Chattanooga (2003–2005) (RB/TE/ST)
  • Temple (2006) (Running backs/Wide receivers)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (2007–2010) (Offensive/special teams assistant)
  • Miami Dolphins (2011–2015) (Running backs)
  • San Francisco 49ers (2016) (Tight ends)

In 2014 under Nixon's direction, the Dolphins ranked second in the NFL in average yards per carry (4.69). Miller eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career, rushing for a career-high 1,099 yards, the most by a Dolphins running back since RB Ricky Williams rushed for 1,121 yards in 2009.

Prior to joining the Eagles, Nixon served as the running backs coach at Temple University in 2006. From 2003-05, Nixon coached at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he worked with the running backs, tight ends, and as a special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator.

Nixon coached at Princeton in 1998 as the school’s running backs coach and he began his coaching career in 1997 as a student assistant coach at Penn State.

A Rochester, PA native, Nixon played running back for West Virginia from 1993-94 before transferring to Penn State, where he earned spots on both the Dean’s List and the Big Ten Conference All-Academic Team.

to be clear, we're used to winning now.

Fair or not, there won't be much tolerance for losing 4 games a year, as there was 'pre-TGCAB'.

Gonna love coaches that bring the W's - in recruiting, on the field, in the NFL. Rhoades may have offered a 7 year contract (who does that? no wonder rhule picked us over oregon), but there's hopefully no more than 4 years max to get this ship turned back around and heading in a direction remotely similar to the way we were: Top 10 nationally, winning Big XII championships, playing for a spot in the CFP, winning recruiting wars. We all know what it looks like and this is different, but we shall see.

Someone did not have a good New Year's Eve. One thing we know about college football is that it takes time to build teams when you change schemes. Look at UT. All of the talent in the world but new schemes the past 3 years. Add that to a freshman class that was decimated by recruits leaving. It will take a couple of years to build the depth that made us successful.

Pieces are falling into place, now lets get to recruiting some talented kids. We need many more Bear Signals in our near future.

We have never heard that Temple's oc will be the other co oc. Can sic em confirm that. Nixon is co oc. so that means there will be another. Do we just think it is the Temple oc or do we know.

I'm reading George Deleone is coming as an O-Line coach and Nixon will be running back coach.

I would have assumed Rhule was going to hire McGuire, Bell or Wetzel to prominent coaching positions. They are successful coaches, so it's a head scratcher to me what Rhule is doing on offense.
