Coach Scott Drew

On the impact of the game on the Big 12
“Everyone gets caught up sometimes about playing Kansas. And if you look at the teams that have won the league the last how many years usually end up with four or five losses. So playing Kansas doesn’t dictate who wins or loses the league.”

On Kansas’ home court advantage
“If you don’t handle the crowd and the excitement level at the beginning of the game, it’s really hard to come back on their court and last year we dug a hole up there. When you get down 20 on the road, it’s tough to come back anywhere let alone there.”

On how previous comebacks helps going into the game
“We prefer to be up the whole time but I think those experiences definitely give you confidence. Again, when you’re playing a top team, you don’t want to spot anybody 10 or 15 or 20 points. That’s not ideal. But I think we’ve had great leadership and if we get up or we get down, I think we stay level-keel enough to where we’re not gonna panic.”

On proving something winning against Kansas
"If we win there or lose there, it doesn’t guarantee who wins the conference. So we’re looking big picture and each game is just as important. They all count the same in the win-loss category.”

On the recent turnover issues
“Last game there were a couple of turnovers we’d been having. We didn’t have them, we had new ones so got ‘em on some turnovers pills, so we’re good. . . .Two three-second violations, those are fixable. So things like that, we can definitely correct.”

Ish Wainright

On what the team has proven this season
“We feel like we haven’t proven anything. Our slogan, ‘We still suck,’ that’s how we feel. People still think we can’t do anything. We haven’t proven anything to anybody to be honest with you, not even ourselves.”

On scouting Kansas

“Speaking for myself, I’ve been watching film on KU for the past four years. . . .They’re just a great team. They have a great point guard, Frank Mason. Landen Lucas is a monster down low. That’s their two [impact] guys. And Josh Jackson, that’s three guys right there.”

On if being from the Kansas area has more motivation for him
“Yes it does. I haven’t won there since high school. That was just in the summertime my sophomore year. I haven’t won there ever since then. We have a chance to do what no other Baylor team has done.”

Jake Lindsey

On the feeling going into Kansas as the No. 2 vs. No. 3 team
“I hadn’t really thought about it like that. I guess it’s cool, an experience to look back on. I think that’s kinda neat, but it’s just another game. Obviously a tough environment, a great team that’s had a lot of success. But we gotta stick to the game plan and do what we do.”

On Kansas’ home court advantage
“Every environment’s unique. They have a lot of history there. Obviously with James Naismith and all the success they’ve had, they love it up there and you can tell by the turnout. . . .There’s tough environments everywhere you go, they’re all just a bit different and that one’s probably unique.”

On the approach to playing a team as storied as Kansas

“Once you realize it’s just basketball, you go out there and just play. ‘Cause you take a loss at KU, so does everybody else. It’s almost an environment where you gotta take the fight to them.”

On the Jayhawks’ possible vulnerabilities

“This team is great guard play, great shot making. They play smaller, so they’re faster and they’re a great transition team. But obviously when you play smaller, rebounding, shot blocking, they’re defense has slipped as Coach Self has pointed out.”
