WACO, Texas – Three Baylor men’s basketball games have been postponed due to the Big 12 Conference men’s basketball interruption guidelines, the Big 12 Conference office announced Monday.

No. 2-ranked Baylor’s home games against Texas Tech (Feb. 13) and West Virginia (Feb. 18), as well as a road game at West Virginia (Feb. 15) have been postponed. The league previously announced postponed Baylor games at home against TCU (Feb. 6) and on the road at Oklahoma (Feb. 10).

The Big 12 Conference will work with the schools to reschedule postponed games at a later date. Fans with tickets to postponed Baylor home games can use those tickets for make-up games when contests are rescheduled.

Baylor is ranked No. 2 nationally after matching the best start in program history with a 17-0 mark, including a 9-0 record in Big 12 Conference play. The Bears won 83-69 on the road at No. 6 Texas in their most recent game on Feb. 2.

It was going to be hard enough to find dates for the two games already postponed. I can't imagine adding three more in the time allotted by the Conference - which is the first week in March. 5 games in one week? Good luck with that.

I am most concerned with the lack of playing at game speed. That will hurt the Bears the most.

I think the bigger concern is why can't Baylor get this under control...they're having much more issues with covid than any other b12 b-ball team.

Like it or not this is a fair question. As I don't think any of B12 team has paused more then once yet. I do feel a few more will end up pausing at some point

In my opinion, the rules for cancellation\postponement are very subjective, not clear and objective. Some in the administration has taken a very cautious approach. Concerning to me.

Bingo CT I agree with you.

Agree with CT. Seems like we are falling on our sword. Seems like at least some of the other universities are just ignoring the distant contact tracing - 2d level or 3d level.

I'm willing to bet this is the case too...and who knows, maybe it's smart to think we can legitimately be immune to a cancellation when it matters most. Still hate having to spend 11 more nights without watching this team.

At this point, I just want to hear RUMBLINGS about the conference's plan for March...clearly they'll have to choose between wedging in 18 games (admirable if not misguided) for all and getting everyone to KC (dumb)
Just remember it could always be worse (Sloan, Stanton, Steele)

Although you guys are right, we have had the most disruption in the Big 12, we're certainly not alone nationally, even amongst Top 10 teams.

Villanova went more than a month without playing a game from before Christmas through mid-late January, and Michigan hasn't played a game since January 22 at this point. Conservative or not, this is a reality a lot of contenders are having to face this season.

I just want us to get back to playing as soon as it's possible to do safely. I'd rather not have us play 6 games in a week and a half to end the season and go into the NCAA tournament ragged, or even worse, hurt. I'm assuming at this point that there won't be a Big 12 tourney.

Isn't Michigan due to state regulations though? Last I had heard their entire team has/was/is testing negative. Although who knows how accurate that is. And the Villanova situation is what I fear BU faces. Nova clearly had a huge breakout as they missed something like 6 games. That seems to be what happened here.

Yeah, I'm concerned we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

That would be the Baylor Way.
