WACO, Texas — The Baylor basketball team is off to its best start in school history following Tuesday’s 77-72 victory over Iowa State. But rather than a lively celebration after improving to 18-0, the Bears entered the Ferrell Center locker room and let out a collective sigh of relief.

Hardly anyone expected the Big 12’s best team to have to labor so hard to topple its worst.
