Jon Dillon passed away last Friday.
In his honor, I posted my doc, When Dallas Rocked, on YouTube.
I'm pulling it on Sunday, so you've got 48 hours to see J.D. on screen, and learn why Dallas was a bigger music city than Austin, "back in the day."

Man, that sucks. I knew he had been suffering from Alzheimer's for years, but did not know that he died. I spent many of year listening to KZEW and KZPS with Dillon. The last couple of years he was on the radio I knew something was 'off'. He sounded tired and didn't seem to care about anything, so I wasn't surprised when they fired him. But in retrospect, he was probably already exhibiting signs of illness then. RIP.

Yes, it crept up on him.
That's the worst part about Alzheimer's: You are the last to know that you have it.
If ever.

Pecos, great quality stuff.....as always. It reminded me of the Southern Rock blowtorch KAAY in Little Rock, which I could listen to in the upper Midwest at night. Finding a great station while travelling around the country was like discovering gold in those days.

I, too, listened to KAAY back in the 60s when I was growing up in Laurel, MS.
We could pick it up at night.
That, and WLS out of Chicago.
There were no rock statons within my AM radio's reception in Mississippi.
Just C&W and gospel.
Those two stations saved my life in Junior High (1964-1967)

Yep, the King Biscuit Flower Hour on Sunday nights was a staple while cruising.

Many thanks to all who watched and sent a few nickels. Pulled it down last night after the Chiefs won in OT. But like the Terminator, I'll be back!!!

Yes, waiting to see which streaming service will run it.
So many more of them now (Discovery, Paramount +, Peacock) than when we first started.
Had to get (another) clearance for the trailer.
Waiting to hear from the rep,
Will let everyone know the minute we do, hopefully soon.

Kinda but not really.

Frank Beard went to Irving HS, Hill was born in Dallas and went to Woodrow Wilson HS but Billy Gibbons formed ZZ Top and he is strictly a Houston kid
