"I love playing for the Dallas Cowboys, I love the organization, my teammates. I do want to be a Cowboy for the rest of my life and hopefully that's a possibility. But even Emmitt Smith, the greatest running back ever, ended up going to play a couple of years for another organization. So it's just the nature of the game, but I want to be a Dallas Cowboy for as long as I can."

As for the upcoming season and his goals, "It all starts with the team, the ultimate goal, and that's just to win a Super Bowl," says Elliott.

The Texans will receive a 3rd round compensatory pick when Clowney walks. They want to trade him because O'Brien is fed up with the guy. Houston would be smart to franchise the guy for a couple of years if he remains and it is clear that they aren't signing him to a long term deal. Given that they waited past the July 15th deadline, he can't talk contracts with anyone now until after the season.

Dallas should call and offer a 3rd and a 6th and rent Clowney for 1yr. I will bet you they could move some money around to make it happen. Make that D a sure-fire, super bowl caliber D. At the end of the year....he walks elsewhere but you've done everything you can to win the SB this year.

Imagine your D line being Lawrence, Collins, Crawford and Clowney. And JaDeveon can play inside as well.

The problem is clearly the cap but Dallas could surely move some money around.

Amazing.

He kinda has the Dorsett thing going on, similar build, vision, burst. A pinch bigger at 6', 209 but very similar. However Pollard is willing to hit hard to get that extra yard.

Will be interesting to see his development

As I said after the first preseason game he reminds me of TD quite a bit with the added bonus of being a better receiver and a kick returner.

How much did the Pats, Eagles, or Giants spend on tailbacks? Guessing not much relatively speaking

Not that I want him, but FYSA, and unlike this announcement, he actually is still property of the Dallas Cowboys

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/30/nfl-conditionally-reinstates-rolando-mcclain/

My first gut instinct is to cut him but given he has to serve a suspension, we could carry him without impacting the roster for insurance in case of injury, either on our team, or someone elses, in which case you might be able to trade him.

Except for the Raiders. Trade them for their three #1 picks they just made. Raiders get their marquee for the move to Las Vegas. We get top DE, a RB and S

The old Raiders would do that, but I don't think the new Raiders will. They shipped off the best DL in the league because they didn't want to pay him. They also traded Amari Cooper for the same reason. Looks like they are going the cheap, youth route.

What a very odd reply...

Jerry and his family lived on top of a small grocery they owned during his youth. His dad ran the grocery while Jerry would sell watermelons out front. His dad sold insurance on the side. Later Jerry would join him and grow the insurance company. As his family would get more money, they would add a bit more onto the store. They even added on a bandstand where Jerry would get up on the mike and take the house down

Jerry got a scholarship to the University of Arkansas for football. He didnt start until his senior year, when he was the starting OG at 187 lbs. He worked for his dad while he was in school selling insurance, even being given the title of VP, however as was common back then, he had jobs on the side and told his game tickets to make ends meet.

When Jerry graduated, he and his wife were dead broke. They even had some department store cards cut up. Howevever Jerry was an excellent salesman and sold Jimmy Hoffa (yep, that one) on giving him a loan to purchase some Shakey's Pizzas. He almost bought the San Diego Chargers with another teamster loan but his dad came down on his head.

Jerry parlayed that money into several good oil and gas purchases and became very wealthy. Then the Cowboys came up for sale and the deal was done. And he became even wealthier.

So when I say, that was an odd reply, I think most folks would say when you come from being dead broke to becoming a billionaire, the majority of folks would say that would make them a self-made man, so I have to ask, 'what would you definition of a self-made man be?'

There's finally something in the way of an update on Randy Gregory. Stephen Jones was asked about the suspended defensive end, and gave something in the way of an update albeit a vague one.

"It is my understanding that he may have filed for reinstatement," Jones said. "And then it's just time that we don't control in terms of when they ultimately make a decision."

That doesn't provide a ton of clarity, but it's at least intriguing to hear that Gregory may be moving in the right direction.

That wasn't an odd reply. His dad got wealthy building that insurance company. I guess scoring a million dollar loan (you can figure out how much that would be today) from the Teamsters is doing it alone? He was given a ton of breaks early on and had so many connections, including some really shady ones. He scored on some oil wells and made bank, so good for him. But, there's no way he's self-made.
