My UDFA want list

Shakur Brown, Mich State CB
Marvin Wilson FSU DT
ADarius Washington TCU S
Adian Ealy Okie OT
Jamie Newman, Georgia QB
Jermar Jefferson Oregon State RB

Moses out of Alabama would be a get too

Marvin Wilson was the number 1 overall recuit. Now he's still on the board.
He absolutely made a horrible decision to come back to school this past year.

Micah Parsons opens as favorite to win defensive rookie of the year
Posted by Mike Florio on May 2, 2021, 9:57 AM EDT

He wasn't the first defensive player taken in the draft. He's the first favorite to win defensive rookie of the year.
Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons, the 12th overall selection, has been installed by PointsBet as a +450 proposition to secure the award based on the 17 regular-season games of his first NFL season. He was taken four spots after Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn and three after Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II.

Two others fall before Surtain at +1000 Dolphins edge rusher Jaelen Phillips (18th) at +850 and Colts edge rusher Kwity Paye (21st) at +900.

Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who wasn't even taken in round one, comes in just behind that, at +1100. Cardinals linebacker Zaven Collins (16th) lands next at +1200. Next comes Washington linebacker Jamin Davis (19th) at +1400 and then Horn at +1500.

Others of note include Titans cornerback Caleb Farley at +1800 and Bills edge rusher Gregory Rousseau at +2000.

One key to winning the award is statistics. A defensive back needs to rack up interceptions. An edge rusher needs sacks. A linebacker needs tackles. A defensive tackle needs some tackles and some sacks and the early stages of a legend for wrecking interior offensive lines.

It also helps to be on a great defense. For linebackers, a solid front wall makes it easier to get to the ball. For lineman, having teammates who demand double teams makes it easier to get to the quarterback. For defensive backs, having others with a reputation for great coverage results in more balls coming the rookie's way.

Having a great offense helps, too. If the defense is consistently holding leads, the edge rusher has more chances to pin the proverbial ears back and rack up sacks.

Name recognition also becomes a factor. The higher the defensive player is taken, the more national attention is paid to his game.

For that reason, there's no rhyme or reason to the winners of the award. So maybe the trick is to take a guy like Rousseau every year, and then wait to see if you hit on a 20-1 bet

it's worth noting that Mukuamu did make one start at safety last year, and indeed, the club said in the post-draft press conference that he'll likely start off at safety.

Wasn't Odigizuwah a Baylor recruit at one point?

One of our UDFA's

  • Name: Nick Eubanks
  • Position: Tight End
  • Height: 6-5
  • Weight: 256
  • School: Michigan (Big Ten)
  • Awards & Recognition: Academic All-Big Ten 2020, All-Big Ten Honorable Mention 2019, Four-time letterwinner.

  • The Good: Unlike his former Michigan teammate and current Cowboys tight end Sean McKeon, Eubanks does not specialize as an in-line run blocker but had plenty of experience doing so in the pro-style system in Ann Arbor. Eubank's size and speed are each pristine for the tight end position with a 6-foot-4 frame and a 4.6 40-yard dash time. More of a receiving threat than McKeon, Eubanks has decent get-off at the line of scrimmage and enough explosiveness to win over the middle of the field as a receiver. The ball skills are impressive for someone his size and he has eliminated a good number of drops from his game over the last two seasons.

The Project: The Florida native never found a bigger role in the passing game during his time in Ann Arbor. In his first season as a starter in 2019, Eubanks was expected to be an added element to the offense with 42 targets. However, he only reeled in 26 passes off the large number of targets and just managed to eclipse the 250-yard mark in the final game of the season. In 2020, it was much of the same but with less drops. 10 receptions on 13 targets for 117 yards was all that Eubanks could muster in the Covid-19 shortened season. And in today's game, tight ends either need to produce in the passing attack or be a bulldozer in the ground game. At the moment, there's not a ton of evidence he can do either.

The Summary: It was originally thought that Eubanks was going to benefit from a relatively thin class of tight ends and see significant interest from organizations for his size and experience. A two-year starter for the Wolverines, Eubanks never really shined in the stat book but was quite impressive in his footwork, athleticism, and route running from a film standpoint. It'll be interesting to see the role that Kellen Moore would have for Eubanks. Because if he can be a safety net behind Dalton Shultz and Blake Jarwin as another receiving tight end, he'll have a shot to stick around. If it's a role much like his former teammate Sean McKeon as an in-line blocker? It'll be a much tougher transition.

Seems to me that Michael Gallup is an available option for trade option now, post draft. Wonder if there is a good swing tackle or safety or something else we need or simply a 2nd round pick for a bad team. Or we keep him for 2021 and get a 3rd comp

When the team was on the clock late in the third round, before it settled on cornerback Nahshon Wright at No. 99, Jerry Jones said there were six to seven players under discussion. The Cowboys got one of those players, linebacker Jabril Cox, early in the fourth round.

    It got two more later.

"We ended up getting four of the six that we were talking about at that time [No. 99],'' the Cowboys owner declared. "I think my numbers are correct.

    "Don't let me exaggerate.''

Will McClay, the vice president of player personnel who was sitting next to Jones, nodded. It was no exaggeration.

    way too early 2022 mock from ESPN;

    21. Dallas Cowboys
    Jalen Wydermyer, TE, Texas A&M*
There was some talk of the Cowboys wanting to move up the board for Kyle Pitts heading into this year's draft, but it would have taken a massive trade package to get it done. Tight end remains the missing piece on offense for Dallas, and after it dedicated its first six picks to defense last week, it will now be able to look back to offense next year. Wydermyer has a great 6-foot-5, 255-pound frame and is productive. The Texas native has six TDs in each of his two seasons with the Aggies and has averaged 12.2 yards per catch over his career.

another reason we didnt trade up for players. We need all 11 draftpicks to be on the roster so we can stay under the cap. Probably why Woods was cut

We were also over the roster limit by 6 players but yeah they see Urban as the vet 1T and Bohanna as the rotational guy.
