My post game thoughts:
1. Dak continues to show poor anticipation and either makes late throws or flat out misses due to indecision that then destroys his technique. I think the team has to make a decision understanding that Dak isn't a good fit for the Norv Turner Air Coryell offense and either go more to a west coast concept that is built around a short passing game, or move on after next year and bring in a new QB. Its telling that none of Dak's backups look like him. What this really boils down to is I think Jerry has to decide does he stick with the Air Coryell philosophy which means Garrett over Dak, or does he think Dak is special enough that it is easier to find a coach with a philosophy that can better use his strengths.
2. This offensive line is a mess for various reasons. Tyron Smith is a shell of himself and looks old. This team will have to draft a left tackle next year. Connor Williams I think it is fair to say is just over matched physically right now which is to be expected for a rookie guard who played tackle in college. I'm still not convinced he wouldn't be a better fit at tackle and moving Collins back to guard. I doubt they would look at this in season but I think they should at least think about it during the bye week. Collins is a better guard than he is a tackle I think.
3. I can't say anything about Zeke other than I saw great effort, unlike Denver last year, even if he was bottled up the whole game.
4. Great moments for Gallup and production from Beasley as usual. The rest of the group is a total loss at this point but I can't totally blame them until items 1 & 2 get more consistent. That said, I think I would like to see a 3 WR lineup of Gallup, Beasley, and Butler going forward, with Butler being added because he has the most history with Dak other than Beasley and he can and will go up to grab balls.
5. The DL got bullied by the Washington OL and I think part of that was they have built a very nice line under Bill Callahan, and I think David Irving and Malik Collins are still trying to get their sea legs under them. The lack of a pass rush was most disappointing as you have to get heat on Alex Smith. The one thing I feared about the Skins bringing in Alex came true yesterday in that Alex is not going to turn over the ball and help you beat him like Cousins would, so you better get to him and try to force him to play a little ugly. We didnt do it and we paid...that said they still only scored 13 points on offense.
6. I didn't understand why Damien Wilson was starting and at this point I would not let VanderEsh, Smith, and or Lee off the field except for a breather. The DL not winning up front did not help these guys stay clean to deal with AP and it showed.
7. DB did fine...I have no problem with their performance and in fact given the lack of a pass rush it was frankly impressive.
8. We have all talked about it but that last 52 seconds with a timeout left and never even getting one shot to the end zone is criminal and I just can't understand how that happens. I'm looking at you QB and HC...you both should have that foremost in your minds to maximize your time.
Well those are my thought and it will be interesting to see what adjustments, if any, are made during the bye week.
