Q: Is it time for Sean Lee to call it quits?Kristi Scales: Sean Lee is sidelined again this week with a hamstring injury, but to suggest that he should consider ending his NFL career is utterly ridiculous. He's still one of the top defenders in the NFL when he's healthy, and a key player on the Cowboys' team.
It's not just Lee's intangibles that make the suggestion he should quit a non-starter. It's science.
As previously reported by Cowboys radio's Brad Sham, the GPS monitors which Cowboys players wear within their uniforms have shows that Sean Lee is faster right now than he's ever been.
Yes, that only holds when he's healthy and not battling a hamstring injury. But when he's healthy, he's a beast on the field and the best Cowboy defender at diagnosing plays and communicating adjustments/calls to teammates.
Leighton Vander Esch has been terrific this season, there's no doubt about it. Jaylon Smith is having a great season. The linebackers corps is as deep as its been in years when Lee is able to play. And if Lee is healthy, I want him playing and having Vander Esch and Smith (along with Lee) as the best linebacker rotation in the NFL.
