Baylor almost won with one of their worst performances in a while. They really beat themselves.

BYU is pretty good, but this take is completely unwarranted.

Nobody wants to win more than our coaches. Their professional livelihoods depend on it.

CDA has prove he can win

NO one here knows more about football than CDA and his coaches.

No one knows more about our players than the coaches.

I dont care if you are from Iowa or played in the band or starred on your private school team. If you think you do, state your case

Nobody likes to lose less than me. But we have good coaches. Tonight didnt work out. Young adults didnt play well. Anyone can second guess calls.

We will be ok

Last year we averaged 48 penalty yards per game.

Tonight we had 116. I don't know if that on players or coaches.

That holding call on Sims when Sqwirl had the TD in the first OT was a killer. I think Sqwirl was even already past him when he was holding.
That was also partly on home cooking officials.

I feel bad that a team had to lose. I have so much respect for your team. Glad we won but we had to lay it all on the line to pull it off. Both teams are solid. BU's O line and Dline are going to wreak havoc all year. I expect greatness from BU rest of year.

All the best guys! I appreciate the great fans that Baylor has.

Hoping all cougar fans cheer for us when we play the Utes next year

Y'all outplayed us pretty significantly. Congrats on the win. I'm not upset that we lost to a good team in a hostile environment. I am, however, frustrated that we were so inept on offense in the first half, on our last drive of regulation and in both overtime periods. There's no excuse for an offensive line with the experience that ours has to look that bad for that long. And our lack of confidence in our passing quarterback to throw the ball was alarming.

But BYU came out and punched us in the mouth. They definitely deserved to win. Hopefully, we'll learn from this game and improve going forward. It's going to be a long, disappointing season if we don't.

I get it, but we BYU fans would really like to not be hated for once. The first time I ever heard the F-word was Wyoming fans chanting F You BYU at a WAC championship game in the 90's. It would be fun to feel safe taking my son to away games without experiencing that kind of hostility.

You guys deserved that one. It was hard fought….but we didn't earn it.

I think your QB play was the difference maker.

Bingo. BYU had a QB when the game was on the line. We did not.

Geez dude. You sound like a child. Don't embarrass the rest of us Cougs. Baylor treated us amazingly well last year.

You can guarantee that Provo will be green next year, I'd even consider buying a Baylor shirt to wear while watching the game

That was the confusing thing to me. If you were going to run this offense, like we ran it last night, Bohannon makes more sense. You can pound with him, sort of single wing with some dink & dunk.

You choose Shippen, which I agree, open it up! Stretch the field. Force BYU to defend the whole field.

They were shook with the environment. Never really experienced that yet.

It wasn't close. The hold added nothing to the play.. he was long gone. Have to disengage.

The meal was not complicated:
BYU was simply the better team last night + Baylor's Terrible Kicking Game sprinkled with Baylor incurring Undisciplined Penalties at every possible worst time = Recipe for Disaster/Loss

* Baylor MUST stop scheduling FCS and creampuff schools........it hurts them in oh so many ways.

Can't disagree. Last year's schedule was more conducive to developing a team. This year in the deep end week 2.

How many times does it need to be said Baylor was supposed to play Louisiana Tech in week 1 until they pulled out in the spring to go play Mizzou? Albany was almost literally the last team available.

We had no other options because LA Tech pulled out so late.

So, it was Albany or don't play at all.

One FCS game is okay. Drones got some good reps in the Albany game, as did many of the other back ups on the roster.

I just have no words for that offensive scheme. We ran it 50 times for like 3 yards/carry.

Well Qualan had it going and we just took him out each play. They did not want to hit him.

I don't know about "had it going" but he did average 4.2 yard/carry tonight. Which was sadly the best offensive production we had.

So naturally we only ran him 16 times. We gave Sqwirl, who weighs roughly 75 lbs less, more carries. Damn it Grimes.

Sqirl averaged over 5 yards per carry

Problem was just the usage. Why, if you will run every first down, do you play your smaller lighter RB? And then put in your big guy for second down, to predictably run again? And then now that you're 3rd and long, either run your big guy or try a lateral pass that relies upon yards after reception.

Grimes did not follow the pattern to a T but it was close. It was extremely predictable, and egotistical. When your play calling can be predicted by everyone in the stadium, you simply have to be a better enough team that being out coached or outschemed won't even matter.

To our team's credit, even though we were out coached and outschemed, it was a tied game at the end of regulation, and 1 slightly better kicker, and we walk away victorious. Before 1am I might add.

But I have no forgiveness for coaches that need kickers to make their kicks, to win in college. Not at Baylor. I've seen this before and I'm not having it.

Bears lost a tough game in a tough environment to a tough opponent. No dishonor in losing to byu in double OT.

Got to fix those penalties obviously.

This team and this coaching staff have a lot of heart.

We'll be back winning again.

Dunno squirrel between the tackles incessantly was absurd

We called it in the thread ahead of every series. But I guess we established an identity.

Just a stupid stubborn game plan, hard to watch, and disappointing for the players

The fact they overcame that no sense to still have a chance is a testament to the dudes on the field

We must have been watching different games. I didnt like the game plan because I like to throw and play wide open

BUT

The gameplan tonight put us in a position to win against a good tem on the road. Missed extra point and FG, crucial penalties and a TD called back and some other bad breaks were not part of the gameplan. The game plan gave us a chance to win. As a coach all you can do is give your team a chanmce to win. We had a chance.

We will get better. I hope fans that dont like our staff and team can find someone they can support.

At the end of the day, Baylor doesn't recruit at an elite level and it does not appear to have a clear path in order to do so, and in practice that means for now and for the foreseeable future, Baylor cannot simply replace players that moved on to the NFL with players that are expected to be as good or better. While it can certainly happen, Baylor generally needs to rely on developing players and/or making the best of what it has and that's been the path to some success for all of Briles, Rhule, and Aranda. To that end, Aranda and Grimes were successful in that Baylor was in a position to win late against a tough opponent despite it's need to develop some position groups further.

The only posters panicking right now are ones that believed that Baylor was going to a NY6 bowl this season. With how UT, OU, OSU, KSU, etc. have played so far and Baylor's early loss to BYU, that seems possible but quite unlikely.
