I just have no words for that offensive scheme. We ran it 50 times for like 3 yards/carry.
Well Qualan had it going and we just took him out each play. They did not want to hit him.
I don't know about "had it going" but he did average 4.2 yard/carry tonight. Which was sadly the best offensive production we had.
So naturally we only ran him 16 times. We gave Sqwirl, who weighs roughly 75 lbs less, more carries. Damn it Grimes.
Sqirl averaged over 5 yards per carry
Problem was just the usage. Why, if you will run every first down, do you play your smaller lighter RB? And then put in your big guy for second down, to predictably run again? And then now that you're 3rd and long, either run your big guy or try a lateral pass that relies upon yards after reception.
Grimes did not follow the pattern to a T but it was close. It was extremely predictable, and egotistical. When your play calling can be predicted by everyone in the stadium, you simply have to be a better enough team that being out coached or outschemed won't even matter.
To our team's credit, even though we were out coached and outschemed, it was a tied game at the end of regulation, and 1 slightly better kicker, and we walk away victorious. Before 1am I might add.
But I have no forgiveness for coaches that need kickers to make their kicks, to win in college. Not at Baylor. I've seen this before and I'm not having it.
