Grayson Grundhoefer: I Think Dave Aranda Will be Brought Back But With High Expectations

Not surprised, Grayson is the biggest Dave cheerleader around

Says Aranda will be here next year, needs to make major changes but also says expectations will be high to win a lot. Those things typically do not happen after major changes (yes I remember 2021 but that is an anomaly).

Bingo… we're going to scapegoat Grimes and magically hope Dave figures his **** out. Next season is going to be an even bigger disaster

He's probably just stating the facts. Given the way things go at BU, Aranda likely bought himself at least three additional seasons (regardless of the results) when he won the B12 Championship and Sugar Bowl 2 seasons ago and '24 is the third season. We aren't like an SEC program that could even win a Natty and still subsequently fire the HC for a couple of sub par seasons (unfortunately in this case) .

We're going to have to suffer through at least one more season as bad or worse than this one barring a miracle before he's gone.

Also what decent OC is coming in to this mess? They know its probably a one year and out job

I hear you. But there are good OCs out there who may see this better than the alternative. The OC at CU for example is frankly being mistreated and his career is on the line now due to his sacrificing a HC gig to be the OC for Sanders. Being here for a year is probably better than having his career destroyed. There are good OCs with a philosophy more like we need, who may take a less than ideal situation.

In addition Aranda is going be around for more than a year if the OC ends up turning the offense around.

The defense is sub 120th nationally in some categories and dead last in the B12 in almost every meaningful statistical category. Let that sink in. Most expect him to be back because Mack is a weak AD and Linda is either too weak or too apathetic to care.

CDA can't coach, bringing him back is a sign of failed leadership.

I agree that there's a lack of financial will to buy him out this year. The only "expectation" is that the buyout cost decreases each year.

FYI we have 2 non-conference games, Tarleton State and Air Force. There's a very real possibility we are 1-11 in 2024. Buckle up.

It isn't scape goating the offense when the offense is bad. However I think it is faster to turn around a program with an offensive view point more like we had years ago than through defense.

It's 100% scapegoating…statistically the defense is worse than the O…. Keep in mind we have a defensive minded HC. If you think changing OCs is going to fix Dave's disaster then you're naive. Dave IS the problem the sooner people realize that the better

Again many of you seem to be advocating the exact recipe for the dark ages from 96. Our problems were not really that Reedy was our HC. That was discovered almost immediately and way too late at the same time.

In the same way the democrats are fixing the border crisis, BU administration is fixing our football crisis. Both are happy with the current flood of failures.

Problem with your whole argument is that Aranda can't coach. You're usually a smart poster but your constant covering for CDA makes no sense
He's a terrible coach. It's obvious to everyone paying attention. He needs to be gone.

Some of y'all should listen to the older guys who have literally seen all of this before. I see the tunnel again where there there is no light at the end there of. Unfortunately many inadvertently want to run right into it. There are issues higher than Aranda that need to be fixed first.

His poor football coaching is compounded by his inability to recruit players who fit his (lack of) scheme.

Large mistake to just retold Aranda. Current situation is a complete failure in every direction. Need new everything. What coaches want to come into our dumpster fire? Installing a new offense and defense for one year is almost impossible. Onr year and then you get fired along with Dave. With Dave back we will stay at the bottom. Time to cut our losses and move forward. NIL is not the main problem. No one wants the play fr a loser in a system no one believes can win. Dull Ball does not cut it.

It is obvious we have no clue about NIL.

They can be fixed concurrently and CDA does not need to be here while it happens. Easier to fix with a coach that isn't terrible.

Dave has the best job I've ever seen. You have admin and supporters falling over themselves to change every mistake he's made while still keeping the source around. There are much better coaches that if given these chances would have eventually succeeded. Many were not and they were removed.

I'm not discounting that the admin is clueless. But any decent coach would be at worst 6-6/7-5 with this pathetic schedule.. even with the guys we have (they would have developed them and D would be adequate). I know Dave is a good guy.. especially compared to standard a high D1 program, but this is crazy.

Just wait till the season ends (can't come soon enough). We will really find out how bad this team will be next year when all the players who have the mental and physical ability to play the game (which could not be more than a handful) jump ship and enter the portal. Then you are left with the bottom of the barrel and when you go to the portal who in their right mind would want to come to Baylor. All we will get out of the portal is a bunch of waana be's....just sayin

Anyone putting high expectations on Aranda next year is living in denial about our current status. He would need 20+ new portal studs minimum while keeping our 30-40 best players. Not even remotely plausible. A 1000-0 bet or worse.

Offense? Defense? NIL? Recruits? Wouldn't matter. One of his primary jobs is to motivate and he has 0% ability to do that. It was a combination of McGuire and 5 key players who were the motivators on the Big 12 championship squad.

People can sqawk about NIL, recruiting and talent all day long, but let me take this exact same roster and turn it over to Lance Leipold and we're sitting here today no worse than 6-2.

If you want to hire Sean Lewis, hire him as the head coach.

There's just no good reason to keep Aranda at this point. You can't hide a failed head coach with new coordinators.

And we all found out quickly yet also too late that like in 96 that our problems in 96 were not that Reedy was the HC at the time.

I think the rest of you will find out quickly the interest will not be what you think if we fire Aranda when he is not allowed to sign who he wants and needs and on top of that doesn't have the NIL to help.

This isn't the same situation. Baylor is committed to being successful. It's problem is the head coach.

Matt Rhule had no trouble building a winner under the same administration and worse circumstances. It's time to admit that Aranda is the problem.

Our NIL is competitive with every team in our conference now. We were one year late to the party. We've caught up.

That's not the reason we can't beat mediocre Big 12 teams.

It probably isn't any good (outside of men's bb) but raw numbers say the program has massively out recruited all of the newcomers and yet Dave has the team neck and neck with all 3 of them. Its an objectively terrible performance. Giving the guy even more time with even more hires to get it right? Seems wild

Dave has been objectively terrible at development, terrible at talent eval, terrible on defense, terrible on staff hires, terrible at motivation. Not just bad but terrible. Its one of the worst coaching performances I've seen in some time. Giving him 3 chances to turn over major coordinators is the definition of insanity. Much better coaches have not been given these type of opportunities. Its hard not to accidentally succeed when given so many chances.

I predicted 56-3. It may be more like 76-6.

I am for whatever it takes to toss Linda, Mack and Dave. If another year of this nonsense is necessary, so be it.
