Does anyone know if Briles will be joining in the celebration festivities at the TCU game when Baylor honors the 2013 and 2014 teams?
I was kinda hoping we could get Mickey Mouse to emcee. I am sure Mickey will be busy that day. Hopefully Ron Murff, Jay Jeffrey, and Jeff Reeter will be honored former player speakers.

I assure you no current Baylor students will be chanting this.

My son is a freshman and he'd do it happily.

Agreed.
With that settled, Baylor University should have owned the mess outright and not allowed lives to be destroyed because of it. That's lives on both sides of that egregious issue. As Thee pointed out, had the university done its job responsibly, all this could have been prevented. So if a group wants to chant "CAB", it'll have no impact on BU and the press will mention it and then it will fade into the dead issue it is, no one having learned the vital issues they should have learned.

Ridiculous

Being paid $18M to go away says it all.

A regent who voted not to terminate told me "that man did nothing wrong, but those in positions of power would sell their own mothers down the river to protect the image and reputation of that college"

That's exactly what they did and they ruined a man's life in the process.

process.

$18M is a steal to make a great coach go away in 2025. You're looking at $40M+ to make a great coach go away now. Good thing the school isn't on the hook for HC inflation.

They wouldn't have had to sell their mothers to think about having a legitimate Title IX office in place years before as they should have.

The "lives that were destroyed" were these sexual assault victims. I could care less that Briles, Starr, and Ian lives were destroyed. The victims are first and foremost in my understanding. The BOR was protecting these victims lives by not bringing their assault to the forefront. They deserve privacy and respect. So keep Briles away and his son Kendell.

There were a lot more lives wrecked than merely the assault victims. That's not to denigrate them: I had a daughter assaulted at BU (who did nothing) so don't even begin to lecture me about that situation.

Any Christian or anyone with a sense of rightness and justice should decry all the lives wrecked, including the life of the university.

Him attending would put the media in a tizzy. The OU game he was at last year, invited by his son in law, caused some fireworks. Might allow for some healing to have Art walk out with his teams, at the very least put that era to rest on a positive note.
They fear it will be viewed as Baylor condoning that culture, BU will not do that. They are scared to death of another scandal.

If one or more of those idiots on that board really felt that making this whole thing a public matter and throwing the football program under the bus was going to protect the image of the school, then we were (or still are) run by idiots. No, complete imbeciles.

They in fact, ruined the schools image by making the whole thing a public show, instead of handling it as an internal matter.

He did nothing wrong? No counter suit? Did he sue for defamation or slander? As you said, he can't get a job. Pretty much destroyed his career worth more than 18M. What was the outcome of Briles rebuttal and countersuits? I live in FL, so it was not really covered here like in Texas.

So he was innocent, wronged, it was provable and couldn't get a day in court?

Did he win? Did he lose? Accept a payoff? What does "Lawyers made it go away" mean?

You guys are making it sound like he, the BOR (willing to tell people on this site he did nothing wrong) and the Alumni all knew he did nothing wrong but there was no recourse?

Or, was it yours and those that know's opinion he did nothing wrong? I have seen a lot of lawyers, they can' just "make things go away without both side agreeing. You guys keep bring this up? How did Briles push back when he was wronged? Like I said, we didn't get much coverage. Just know what was reported and there were prosecutions.

Baylor invited the entire teams, not individual players. He is a part of the team, why would he need a special invitation ?

Reality is... it's really all a moot point. Baylor will NEVER see any football success in the future except an occasional run for a conference championship. Probably alumni generation in between. Face it, Baylor has rarely done anything right. Baylor has ALWAYS been reactive instead of proactive... operating on the cheap. Best thread example is the lack of a Title IX person at a time when needed. Now, with the two big conferences, relevancy will be a struggle of any variety for Baylor. History is history, period... Baylor is and always will be Baylor. Potential future football coaches will be potential feeder candidates for better jobs. That in itself doesn't paint a great picture for what most consider potential for consistent success. One comes, has a form of success, an off they go... Baylor back to square one.

Maybe so, Does Platt work for Baylor ? Did Diane send an invitation or a message ? The only way to rundown ex=players is through the Lettermans association and the players themselves. Baylor had to make a conscious effort to make sure the coaches were not included.
