Just checking if the hiring of Sanders was a good thing for COL? Now that we are 2 seasons in.
Question now is can they keep him. COL should be an easy State to recruit what he needs to win. He will need a very specific type of athlete to fit his system, but I suspect he will have no trouble.chorne68 said:

If he gets them to the Playoff, he will become the model.Aberzombie1892 said:FLBear5630 said:

He could crater from this moment forward - other than off the field scandal - and he was 100% worth it.
There is no Deion model. He's like Trump -- a unique beast aided by a previously established brand and pre-existing celebrity.FLBear5630 said:If he gets them to the Playoff, he will become the model.Aberzombie1892 said:FLBear5630 said:

And you would end up regretting it ... perhaps as early as next season.BylrFan said:

Colorado doesn't have the recruiting ground that Baylor does. Baylor can build a solid Big 12 roster without leaving the state.Aberzombie1892 said:FLBear5630 said:If he gets them to the Playoff, he will become the model.Aberzombie1892 said:FLBear5630 said:

Maybe. The field for replacement HC candidates at Colorado will be much better post Sanders vs pre Sanders due to his impact on that program, and, to that end, it wouldn't be that different than Baylor post Briles vs pre Briles.
Recruiting is a separate topic from this one. The point is that the field of candidates for Colorado will be better post Sanders than pre-Sanders, just like Briles at Baylor.bear2be2 said:Colorado doesn't have the recruiting ground that Baylor does. Colorado has to recruit nationally, and no one they hire to replace Prime will be equipped to do that as well as he has.
Nothing has been built at Colorado. Deion is leasing that program with no intention whatsoever to own.

Deion is still a narcissistic jackass and a terrible example as a human. His attractiveness to kids and a lot of fans is what it is. He has star power that gets talent and attention..
I wouldn't want him having anything to do with my favorite teams.
Yet, they are on the cusp of the playoff...bear2be2 said:Colorado doesn't have the recruiting ground that Baylor does. Colorado hasn't done anything. Deion has made Colorado a name. The second he leaves, that all ends.FLBear5630 said:Yet, they are on the cusp of the playoff...bear2be2 said:Colorado doesn't have the recruiting ground that Baylor does. COL has made themselves a name and are getting more attention than since the Kordel days. With NIL, will be interesting to see who they get, if Deion even leaves. His current locations has some benefits other States don't in terms of recruiting.
Whether or not the next coach will be successful is a separate topic from this one.bear2be2 said:Coaches -- even well thought-of ones -- are only as good as their players.Aberzombie1892 said:Recruiting is a separate topic from this one. Not really. The question the OP is asking is specifically about Colorado's trajectory. That program only has one if they can continue to attract the level of talent that Deion has there after he leaves.Aberzombie1892 said:Whether or not the next coach will be successful is a separate topic from this one.bear2be2 said:Coaches -- even well thought-of ones -- are only as good as their players.Aberzombie1892 said:Recruiting is a separate topic from this one. If you told me, before the resurgence of the last 4 games, that Peyton Manning was going to come coach at Baylor for only two years, but would bring Arch and a Heisman favorite plus some other elite players to campus, and have us in playoff contention in year 2, I'd have taken it.
I don't think I'd take that deal now, since it seems like we've got a really positive trajectory, but Colorado hasn't had a good trajectory in a long time.
If you can buy a new truck, you don't lease a Corvette, but if you are driving a beat-up Corolla, the leased Corvette has lots of appeal.

It's a short-term high. But if it's the only high Colorado will enjoy for 30 years, I won't begrudge them the fun they're having now. But the naked wake-up behind the Dollar Store dumpster will be a rude awakening when it comes.
I think I'm approaching my daily quota for metaphors in this thread. Haha.

That would be the biggest money grab idea ever by an NFL owner with no expectation of actually winning. I'm 100% certain now that Jerry Jones will be doing this.hodedofome said:

Jerry Jones frequently makes decisions that are geared more toward making him money than helping his team win games.PartyBear said:

I have a good buddy whose son goes to CU, and he's been all in on Deion from the beginning. He told me early last season if you listen to Deion not being Primetime but just being a coach, he's actually a pretty contemplative guy who admits he's still learning to be a coach. But you have to get past the soundbites that are all you see and read on ESPN
I really never had the time to watch a CU press conference, so I take his word for it.
