We're going to have some attrition -- and frankly need some to build the best roster we can. If we're going to lose guys (and everybody is), these are the types you want to lose to the portal.dstaylor57 said:
HBaylor's CB TayShawn Wilson and DL Roberts Day have entered the portal.
I'm sure if they read your jerk-wad comments, they wouldn't like it very much.
As I said, I wish both well at their next stop -- as I do most of the players who transfer away from Baylor. But to open spots for rotation-caliber transfers and incoming freshmen, we need some guys like these to transfer to places where they'll have a better opportunity to play and contribute.
I'm not going to cry crocodile tears over losing guys who couldn't crack our two-deep. I'm going to wish them well and be glad that we have those scholarships to reallocate.
Team building in the era of NIL / Portal buffoonery requires Effective roster management. Effective roster management means that you need to turn over about 10%-20% of your roster every season. For schools like Baylor it means you have to have a damn near 100% hit rate on your portal additions.
Losing guys has to happen. Just make sure the talent coming in is an upgrade over that walking out the door. That certainly appears to be the case here.
