Astounding putting it the way that makes you feel better and ignoring records\
Completely disagree. Any coach in America could've come in and won at least one game with the roster we had returning. In fact, it's implausible that we only won one game with that team. How does he get to tank his first year and then get credit for improving us from that lowly record?
Coaches are always evaluated against the record of the team that preceded them. I didn't particularly like the guy, but I can still acknowledge that he had us in a decent spot when he left, but he is not the Vince Lombardi that many people here try to make him out to be.

Nebraska’s Matt Rhule is the favorite to be Penn State’s next coach per @Kalshi. Rhule is favorite, at 35%, followed by Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin (14%), Bills OC Joe Brady (14%), Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer (11%) & Texas A&M’s Mike Elko (8%) pic.twitter.com/HbnzBZ98PQ

I'd be really surprised if Kalen BeBoer leaves Alabama or Mike Elko leaves A&M.
Kiffen might just take that Florida job unless he is confident Ole Miss can compete on NIL with Florida.
I don't know much about the Bill's OC so maybe he will be the guy. Maybe his agent is just trying to get him a raise.
I kinda think it will be CMR because no other coach they really want will say yes.

that 1-10 was self-inflicted by little Matty, his ownself so his third season appeared to be a miracle to a few of the sheep like you. The real fans didn't buy his fraud.

Not really butt hurt, just don't get the "man-crush" many on here have for a guy that left after having 1 good season, a season where he lost to every ranked team. I get the Briles "man-love", he was and always will be Texas through and through. Rhule? He is a Northeastern carpetbagger that played Baylor. Yet, you guys swoon...

Nah, just Aranda is driving me to drink (Pacifico and Tacos tonight) so I thought I would weigh in on why we hate Rhule, as he is who left and subjected us to this...

Do you mean that Aranda not knowing what he is doing is Rhules fault?

The best thing Rhule did, imo, was not football related. It was PR. Whether it should have been or not, Baylor was a pariah. But the media people loved Matt Rhule. Few could have done what he did.
The worst part, also not football related. He was a mercenary. He was honest about it, sure, but Baylor fans were wanting someone who cared about Baylor at that fragile moment. He was not that.
As a football coach he was fine. Underachieved his first year, overachieved his third year.
But most importantly, Baylor football was competitive when he left. We weren't convinced that would be the case when he was hired.
At the end of the day, I'm grateful he did that particular job, and I also have no loyalty to him since he left.
We chose to hire Aranda. We could have very easily promoted from within and kept most of the Rhule culture and staff in place.FLBear5630 said:morethanhecouldbear said:FLBear5630 said:morethanhecouldbear said:FLBear5630 said:morethanhecouldbear said:Stranger said:Aliceinbubbleland said:WA Jim said:

If true it's shocking. I for sure thought he would be able to talk PSU into offering him. I suppose he still could. He signed an extension here 3 weeks before he bolted.

Extension is negotiating tactic.

Bingo. Rhule was exactly what Baylor needed at that time. I honestly don't know if another coach could have, or would have wanted, to bail us out. For that, the dude has my eternal gratitude. And he was probably more transparent with his flirtations than most coaches. Its a business and he had goals he wanted to achieve.
Matt Rhule is not leaving Nebraska. Rhule locks in an extension with an AAV of $11.7 million per year (including retention bonuses). Huge news for the Huskers ahead of a big game vs. USC. https://t.co/Yf8PT4YLCR
