If Duke beats Virginia AND Troy beats James Madison then the last spot is going to be WILD -
Duke, UNLV. Boise State?

Wasn't the point of a CFP to REDUCE cupcake games??

The Crimson Tide and USF mutually agreed to move their previously scheduled 2026 matchup to the 2032 season. Alabama will replace the USF contest with Chattanooga and as was previously announced, added a game against East Carolina for the '26 campaign.

Additionally, the Tide will host Marshall as part of the 2027 schedule.

It's all about the "W" and the $$$.

This system seems really stupid.

- I will echo my general complaint of the unnatural love and boost of Notre Dame despite its consistently weak schedule and lack of conference
- It is ridiculous G5 teams are included
- How does the ACC get two teams in last year but the XII will get penalized this year

Texas fans have to be mad to be above Miami when it beat two teams ranked above it and Miami beat only one.

What is the point of having conferences and championship games if Miami - who was not even in play for the ACC championship - is going to make it in rather than the champion.

Remember when Big12 had no conference title game and that HURT our chances so we added one.

Now ACC conference game is pushing out Miami or even the entire auto-bid. Many now say these championship games HURT the teams chances and should be eliminated.

I can't keep up...

I think that is what gets everyone pissed off. <No Politics>The committee is like a Democrat and just creates a new reality and rules week to week to fit whatever agenda it is peddling regardless of consistency.</No Politics>

The thing that is the biggest B.S. is that Clemson and SMU got in last year and only BYU or Tech will get in this year.

Agreed. I think if for some reason this is like a 0.00001% edge case:
- Georgia destroys Alabama
- Ohio State destroys Indiana

Makes two of Texas' losses look less bad and maybe Alabama drops out and they replace with Texas.

CFB's biggest problem is 133 teams. Not everyone can play everyone like in other leagues.

The OOC schedules are already disproportionate but now conferences are so big that teams don't even play each other!!!

(A&M did not play Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, or Oklahoma!!)

So now all we do is speculate out of our azz...

I hate the mega conferences. I know we will never get the cows back in the barn… but it just sucks.

Exactly. Not sure aggy should even be in the discussion given its schedule - it played the bottom 1/2 of the secsecsec outside of Texas, which it lost. It's at least the sixth best team in the secsecsec but becasue of the weak schedule it is 11-1.

The sweetest possible thing would be for Tech to knock out aggy.

Isn't that kind of the point of a conference, for everyone to play each other.

If you have 16 teams in your conference, you should split into 2 divisions and those winners play in the CCG.

We played Texas Tech every year since WW2 - but not this year.

Instead we played UCF, Cincinnati and the Arizona teams.

Rutgers played a conference game in Seattle, Washington. Penn State did the same at UCLA - and on and on.

Why - all because of $$$.

Yep...the money is flowing and Pandora's box has been opened.

The fans can take a backseat to what will make the sport the most money.

I will probably always be a college football fan… but it's just not the same.

Amateur athletics gone corporate. I don't have an issue with players being able to make money… but we need so many guard rails in place like two years ago.

Baylor needs to hop on this trend. Scrap Auburn and SMU. At least one of the two

Weren't we penalized for this during the Briles era for a soft OOC?

Only the SEC teams can get away with it..

ESPN FPI says 19 teams still have a greater than 0% chance to make the playoff. That includes Kennesaw State with a 0.3% chance. Here is a path I found where the Owls could make the playoff in their second FBS season. : r/CFB

The game was different back then. Look at Tech's out of conference schedule, they're are #5 in the CFP right now.

Indiana made the playoffs in the first year of their rebuild thanks to their cupcake schedule.

We need to adapt asap.

Those big non-conference matchups are high risk, high reward games.

Texas dropped the ball against Ohio State.

However, Texas A&M beat Notre Dame in South Bend and was able to hang their hat on that win all season long, despite their mediocre SEC schedule.

Sometimes, it works in your favor. Sometimes, it doesn't.

What Texas should have been upset about was losing to a mediocre Florida squad, and barely getting by Kentucky and Mississippi State.

Even with the OSU loss, they still could have been a lock to make the CFP if they hadn't laid an egg in Gainesville. So at the end of the day, the Horns have no one to blame but themselves.

As for these 16-team conferences, divide everyone into 4-team pods and ensure that a team would face their pod mates, a separate pod, and 2 other teams from the other two pods.

That would basically create a rotating division of 8 teams each year - and you'd always ensure that all of the teams from each rotating division will have played one another and established a division champ.

This take by Herby is idiotic considering BYU is going to be left out of playoff with only one loss and are currently behind multiple 2 loss teams.

The real story should be don't lose to trash teams next time. Talking to you Alabama for losing to OU last year and Texas for losing to Florida this year. Win those games and you're in.

The best 12 teams are supposed to be in and that won't happen. Miami, vandy and Texas would destroy Texas tech. They need to get away from auto bids.

Ah yes, the scientific conclusion "Everybody knows X would beat Y....".

Why don't we just ask Paul Finebaum to pick the CFP teams?

I will be stunned if anyone can destroy Tech. Prepared for incoming trashing during/after playoffs.

No explanation for Clemson and SMU getting in last year and BYU and Tech not getting in this year ... other that the committee is full of tools.
