I haven't counted… But I'm guessing we are getting near 30 at this point

If Pollyanna says our roster is being "gutted" then it must be bad

2026 Baylor football will be the "new" 1987 SMU football. Euthanasia would be merciful. Re-alignment won't even be a point of discussion whenever it happens.

If I were on the team I'd leave because we play losing football wearing ugly pickle and mustard uniforms. I like to look sharp even when I'm getting my ass kicked.

Good. We need to get realigned to a lesser conference, as do many other current P4 schools. It's just our current financial reality. College football has gone from my favorite sport to something I barely watch anymore

This roster will compete well in the Southland Conference

The sad part about all this is that I'd be okay with this mass exodus if Baylor had a new coach.
There's zero point in getting excited about a single portal pickup because Baylor's going to be doing the exact same thing next December with a new coach

Bullseye. Would 1000% rather be in OSU's shoes right now

It's a four corners state, so there should be three more to follow.

Sorry I'm pretty ignorant to all these transfers. So are these kids leaving without a place to land and hoping another school drafts them? So they were getting paid at Baylor but they're gambling they will get paid better somewhere else? And if they don't get picked up they get paid zilch or if they get desperate the could take a pay cut at some other school?

It's a mixed bag. Some secure place before they enter the portal. Some don't have a place but hope to find one. Some are asked to enter as the team doesn't see them as a future fit.

I believe there is a dirtiness that happens in that school recruit your players out from under you contacting the players management.

I made a comment in the Arizona game thread where the announcers said the Arizona coaches looking at game tape preparing for us said they couldn't believe our record looking at our talent.

Multiple posters in the thread said it was just coach speak.

I don't think it was . Our guys are getting picked up by SEC schools like Ole Miss .. Florida.. and Kentucky so far..

Well...if we went 5-7 with good talent can't wait to see what Aranda is able to do with lesser talent.

I was a little hopeful that if our new DC could take us from almost the worst D in the country to maybe just slightly below average we could win a few more games if Spav kept the offense going.

But...what weapons are we going to have on offense to work with?!?

A&M could use Washington as could OU

But could he stay on the field (injuries) getting beat up by SEC defenses. He couldn't stand up to XII defenses. The guy was great when he was on the field, but it seemed like just about every game in which he started, by the end of the second quarter you didn't see him again.

This "stay the course and have faith" garbage has got to go. You don't "stay the course" when you are hurtling toward the mountain. You need to (by definition) change course lest ye end up as a smoking hole in the side of the cliff.

We all knew it was going to be bad, but this is a next level decimation.

On a positive note, I look forward to lots of free time next fall as I will not dedicate a single minute to watching Baylor embarrass itself with a team composed of spare parts, duct tape and bailing wire.

We have "stayed the course" for 6 years, and it has been a steady decline

And in fairness to the new DC it will be difficult to evaluate his aspect of the job. Saban could coach a Div II team for a season against SEC teams, weekend & week out, but could you tell if he was doing a good job?

Where there is a void of leadership, negativity will usually fill it. These tweets don't help. You can't just say "stay the course" (i.e., trust me Bro) after the downward spiral of our football program since the Sugar Bowl. Someone needs to lead, and we know that's not Dave.

The 1997ish-2003ish BU teams were fun to watch in a Kafkaesque way. Maybe we'll get a year of that kind of nostalgia.

I'll take a vuvuzela, a lemon chill, and a copy of The Trial please.
Noooo evidence for that, babeeyyy, just maaade it up.

I wonder how much was due to strength and conditioning and how much was having to create his own space against comparable athletes who outweigh him by 75-100 lbs.

Unfortunately all but a handful of rosters in every conference are going to be gutted each year as players look for larger bags of money.

I don't blame players, they have a 4-to-5-year window to make as much as they can (at least until the eligibility rules change).

If for example Oklahoma State puts together a nice team & a nice season next year then they will lose key players to the bigger schools. A huge percentage of universities are now feeder schools to the schools with the biggest NIL bags in the current landscape. It is what it is unless and until some sort of collective bargaining agreement exists.

Right now, FUBAR is the existing system and FUBAR is not sustainable.

Baylor should piss off everyone and go get CFL players that played exclusively for Canadian football colleges. At least OL and DL

This would seem to be logical. It is not difficult to imagine a situation where it becomes so chaotic and expensive that more and more schools are simply priced out of the market, resulting in a crash in the "market" with players having to scramble around just to have a team and come anywhere close to getting what they were getting, with some just left out in the cold without even a scholarship or at a school whose academic degree is highly suspect.

At this point......literally.....no place else but in college athletics. There may be some pros that are envious.

I've seen tweets that about 10,000 players are in the portal. So, there are going to be winners and losers for sure.

Player evaluation and money management are critical skills schools must have in the current environment. U of H appears to be good at both evaluation and money management (in football AND basketball) given the cougars on the field results.
