Unfortunately all but a handful of rosters in every conference are going to be gutted each year as players look for larger bags of money.
I don't blame players, they have a 4-to-5-year window to make as much as they can (at least until the eligibility rules change).
If for example Oklahoma State puts together a nice team & a nice season next year then they will lose key players to the bigger schools. A huge percentage of universities are now feeder schools to the schools with the biggest NIL bags in the current landscape. It is what it is unless and until some sort of collective bargaining agreement exists.
Right now, FUBAR is the existing system and FUBAR is not sustainable.
Movement will be heading in both directions, and not everyone will be getting a bigger slice of the money pie. There are those players on blue blood teams who can't get onto the field because of their position ranking, who were a four or five star, who are looking for playing time that are entering the portal. Baylor has benefited from those before. This transfer portal market is self balancing and some value playing time over NIL money. For those rosters said to be gutted each year, with proper staff structure for recruiting, those rosters have a plethora of possibilities to replenish. After all, how many in the final four have at least 15 transfers contributing. No, the sky is not falling.
