I think after seeing how the U of Washington player had to go back with tail between his legs after they legally held his feet to the fire a lot of the top commits are holding off on putting the actual pen to paper as long as possible.

I’ve known DJ for his 2 years at UF. In this modern college football world, he’s a rare high character kid. The only reason he visited other schools after Baylor is because he previously told them he would. He’s not the type to chase NIL.

The disappointing thing is, because of his actions ( or lack of), it takes some of the shine off of him joining.
Puts a bad taste in a lot of fan's mouths.
Makes it seem like he's settling and /or his character gets questioned.

Why not fully commit and start putting together that class that he's capable of.
Hard to talk other players into something when you're not completely signed on.
Hopeful it happens, but why not sign up and go like the other qb's joining new schools.

More talented and better are two different things. Robertson was better than Lagway each of the last two years.

I'm excited to have DJ, though. I think he has a real chance to thrive here under Spavital's guidance.

I don't know how anyone can begrudge a kid or make judgments about him being low character or disloyal for flipping for more money even at the last moment. This is a big money game now and everyone is just doing what's best for themselve$$. Most of these kids are never going to make significant money in the NFL or NBA, and this is the only chance in their life to make this kind of money in a single year. As fans of the school that got flipped on, it definitely sucks, but most of you have jobs, and if another company offered you twice as much money to do the same job, I guarantee pretty much 100% of you would switch to the new job.

It is not like there are any slots left anywhere else that I think he would be attracted to except Tennessee perhaps who is still trying to get Leavitt before he signs with LSU.

I have to wonder if his contract at Florida has not quite expired yet and Baylor and he are avoiding a buyout. Again I wonder about that at this point, not claiming that is more than any idle speculation.

I disagree. This will be the most talented QB since RG3/Petty/Russell. He might be better than RG3. (For sure higher upside). Coaches have to put him in the right position. (Not let him throw the ball when we're running a team out of the stadium).

This much talent makes the line better. The backs better. The defense better. I'm looking forward to is against Tech next year.

Is DJ more athletic than Bryce Petty on paper - Likely. But Bryce has 2 Big12 Championships under his belt. DJ has ZERO.

Bryce played in NFL. DJ - Not sure.

Let's be cautious doing comparisons or atleast be more specific what we are comparing against.

We're going to just have to agree to disagree. Lagway has done nothing whatsoever to suggest he's been in any way shape or form better than the 3 I named. This is just an example of a fanbase clinging to hope. And to be quite frank here. Stats dont lie. He may be talented. But that hasn't translated. And it sure as **** hasn't translated to him being better than a heisman trophy winner. Or a 2 time B12 champ who was elite in his time in Petty.

This… and this is without comparing stats. Which I'm not even going to do because it makes this debate a laugher. When Lagway shows something on the field that backs up this wild ass claim I'll give him credit. Until that happens this is just a case of fans making outrageous claims as a form of hope.
